Marie Lathrop and her team make seeing the orthodontist fun! Dr. Lathrop and her welcoming staff of professionals always answer our questions thoughtfully and are very accommodating of our needs. Her office is dedicated to the local community and as a busy mom of four I'm thrilled they are easily accessible in our neighborhood. From patient appreciation movie nights and summer ice cream socials, to prizes earned, my children enjoy the perks of having braces! Their bright smiles post-braces demonstrate renewed confidence in their appearance, a worthy success in my book. I highly recommend Lathrop

My advice is look elsewhere even if you live in Sellwood. The location may be convenient but scheduling options seem limited once receiving treatment. Be sure you understand when Dr. Lathrop is available & clarify summer and holiday hours, etc. before committing. Office is closed on Fridays. We found appointment choices limited and felt the wait times between follow ups were unnecessarily long. Twice we left after appointments believing follow up appointments were made, but the office staff did not actually schedule them. Afterward the office was unaccommodating and frankly unapologetic.

Marie did an amazing job with my teeth (back in my 14th year of life.) The staff there is so kind, efficient, and thorough. I knew I wasn't getting those things off until my teeth were perfect. But with well-timed appointments and tightenings and one very hefty bite plate, I was done with less than two years of orthodontia under my belt.
10 years down the road, my teeth are still straight. My retainers still fit and still have the awful palm tree print I chose in the 8th grade.
I highly recommend!

My 9 year old just had an expander put in this morning at Dr. Lathrop's office. It took 3 visits so far to get to this point, not including the original consult. Each visit has been quick and easy. The staff is congenial and engaged, talking to my son and me the whole time, not just working silently, which I think can help with a younger psyche.
We researched a few other options including OHSU and found that Dr. Lathrop's costs were right in the middle of the pack and her office is as convenient, if not more so, than the others.

I'm in my late twenties and have been wearing a retainer nightly since getting my braces off 15 years ago. My retainers typically have a lifespan of 5 or more years. Last year, my dog unfortunately turned my retainer into a chew toy and I needed to get a new one.
I went to Marie Lathrop Orthodontics because they were right near my house and had an appointment available quickly. They did molds and I had a new hard plastic retainer made.

Dr. Lathrop and team are amazing! They were super accommodating to my crazy work schedule and impromptu non-scheduled appointments. This place is more than about braces. They have monthly competitions with high value prizes. And don't forget the summer movie night. I would recommend this place to anyone. They are the best.
