The Woods Montessori program meets the needs and interests of three to six year olds. Learning is intrinsically motivating and joyful in the multi-age classroom and prepared environment. As a Catholic school, the faith development and character education of our children is devoted to enriching students' lives and preparing them to lead lives of significance.
Lessons on faith and values anchor everyday life. Our talented, creative arts faculty cultivates our students' artistic gifts, engaging their minds, bodies, and spirits through art education that includes music, visual arts, and performing arts. Our students' foundation in technology includes understanding how it works and how to use it to change lives.

In a community with many notable public, private, and parochial schools, The Woods Academy stands apart. Our mission - and our continued priority - is to be an inclusive Catholic community preparing boys and girls to lead lives of significance. We're the only independent, co-ed Catholic, private school in the Bethesda area.
There is nothing we love more than meeting prospective families and showing them around our school, so you can see for yourself what a special learning community it is. Interested in learning more about a Woods Academy education? Joining one of these Zoom sessions is a great first step. Molly will give you an initial overview of the school and is happy to answer questions about our community, curriculum, and approach.
The Woods Academy provides an unparalleled private school education for students from age 3 to Grade 8. Our strong academic program begins with our Montessori preschool and continues through elementary school and middle school. Students gain vital skills in math, reading, technology, writing, and world language, while they improve their ability to solve problems, think critically, and be creative.
The arts are an integral part of The Woods curriculum. Our talented and creative arts faculty works with the students to cultivate their artistic gifts, engaging their minds, bodies, and spirits through art education that includes music, visual arts, and performing arts. Each of these classes helps instill in students a love for creative expression and a lifelong love for the arts.
Athletics are a critical part of a child's education and building blocks in their development. At the same time, they acquire an appreciation for health and fitness and habits that will remain with them for the long-term. Our students gain qualities essential for their personal and social growth, including self-discipline, self-motivation, self-esteem, and personal integrity.

I attended the Woods Academy for ten years and absolutely loved it. The faculty and staff became a second family and provided me with an excellent academic and spiritual foundation. I made life-long friends and will always remember the time I spent there fondly. The Woods community will always have a special place in my heart.

I recommend this school to everyone that is looking for a serious and true Montessori program. In MD any school that claims to be Montessori has to be approved by the state and has to have at least one Montessori-trained teacher. However, I have heard parents complain sending kids to Montessori is a waste of money because it's just a name to sell the school. So, not all state-approved Montessori programs have good quality of education.
So being aware not all schools are the same, I toured 3 Montessori schools: Lone Oak, Manor and the Woods Academy. I found the Lone Oak Montessori on AMI
