At Madisonville Animal Hospital, we provide each of our patients with the same loving care, experience, and cutting edge technology and medicine as we would our own pets. Madisonville Animal has served the Madisonville, Mandeville, Covington, Ponchatoula and Hammond area animals since 2003, and we would welcome the opportunity to care for your constant companion as well.
Since our humble beginning in a small shopping center, our animal hospital has grown due to the level of compassion and care we provide. Our modern facility includes an advanced diagnostic laboratory, digital x-ray system, surgical suite, intensive care unit, and boarding. We realize that you have choices when it comes to the care of your pet.

Services
Dr. Christine McDonald is the owner of Madisonville Animal Hospital. She has been in the veterinary industry since 1990, and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University in 1995. She also gained experience in emergency clinics and provided relief services for other veterinarians.
At Madisonville Animal Hospital, you can expect state of the art medical care for your four-legged companions. We believe in nurturing the human-animal bond and creating a harmonious relationship between people and animals. You can expect to be greeted by a courteous receptionist, clean exam rooms, friendly doctors, and caring technicians.
Just as in human medicine, the overall safety of any procedure is based on the age of the patient, and the type of treatment required. For example, a neuter or spay for a young animal generally carries less risk than a cancer treatment for a senior animal. Regardless of the type of your pet's medical needs, Madisonville Animal Hospital takes the greatest possible care of your furry family member!
Dr. McDonald and her experienced staff have successfully diagnosed and treated many animals with cancer at Madisonville Animal Hospital. Our state-of-the-art facility includes advanced diagnostic tools to detect most types of cancer early, which gives our patients the best opportunity to beat this scary disease.
Does your best friend have bad breath? Despite what many pet owners may believe, "dog breath" is not just a nuisance - it's a sign of an unhealthy mouth. Bad breath is often caused by bacteria. Over time, bacteria lead to plaque and tartar buildup on your pet's teeth. The result is not only bad breath, reddened gums, and other common signs of dental disease.

Doc McDonald is literally a life saver. I took in a very sick ferret on deaths door. She inspected her very thoroughly and developed a treatment plan. 2 weeks later, she still has a ways to go but is no longer at risk of passing. they have called 3 times checking in on her. They have also seen my 50 lb big baby Daisy (dog) and treated her like their own. The entire staff are friendly and caring. you can tell they guinuinely have a passion animals and their health. I leave knowing all my fur babies will be seen to properly. They are the BEST!

I’ve been a loyal customer for seven years. I have four dogs that go to this clinic. I was happy with the treatment over the years even though I had heard negative comments from friends and neighbors. Today was two of my dogs appointments. I arrived twenty minutes early to make sure I was on time. I was not seen until 80 minutes later. When I asked what the hold up was I was told another dog had an emergency. I can be sympathetic to sick dogs but the animal in question came out ahead of mine and looked fine. I had booked this appointment several months in advance. When it was time to examine

My grandmother went up there to have the bills explained to her and came back sobbing. I am not sure what went on but that alone has made up my mind. I see that this isn't the first time someone has made a complaint about McDonald being rude and unprofessional. She apparently doesn't just love animals, she is one.
She just lost five patients and a lot of money.

I've used Dr. McDonald for minor to major issues concerning my cats and dogs, and have always been very pleased with her professionalism and standard of care. Most recently I happen to come upon an emaciated, tick infested dog on the side of Hwy 22, who as it turned out, was riddled with heart worms. Dr. McDonald and her staff literally saved his life! They treated him like their own and now he is a happy, healthy guy. When I arrived with this poor soul, her staff immediately jumped into action and it was because of Dr. McDonald's expertise and experience that Trooper survived. She even worked
