Services
In the US, acupuncture treatments are often given on tables in individual cubicles. This is not traditional in Asia, where acupuncture usually occurs in a community setting. In our clinic we primarily use recliners in a large, quiet, soothing space.
Treating patients in a community setting has many benefits: it's easy for friends and family members to come in for an acupuncture treatment together; many patients find it comforting; and a collective energetic field becomes established which actually makes individual treatments more powerful. In some styles of acupuncture, the needles are removed after only a few minutes or after a half hour at most.

The mission of Backyard Healthcare Project (the non-profit behind Tucson Acupuncture Co-op) is to provide affordable, accessible, and easy-to-use healthcare options for everyone in our community through acupuncture and herbal medicine.
Our purpose is to improve the quality of life for our patients and their families by providing substantial support for their health, including relief of pain; reduction in the frequency, duration, and intensity of distressing symptoms; and prevention of the onset of acute and chronic diseases.

We get lots of referrals from midwives and obstetricians because acupuncture is effective for many pregnancy-related conditions. Also, there's a rumor that people who get acupuncture throughout their pregnancy tend to have calm babies. Yes, we use disposable needles. They come to us sterilized, we use them once, then we dispose of them in an approved Sharps container.
We will not be able to treat you at the clinic if you have any symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath, sneezing, runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea, or new onset of: fatigue, sore throat, loss of smell or taste, nasal congestion, or muscle aches. In addition, we strongly encourage anyone who is immunocompromised to continue to stay in the safest place - home.

I love what's being done at TACO. It's relaxing, it's effective and dang do they really care about everyone that walks in the door. They work really hard to increase access to acupuncture for EVERYBODY and I love that face masks are required. I really want to know that a clinic is doing what they can to keep me and others safe and out of the hospital. Getting treatments has helped me heal my guts to the point where I no longer have food sensitivities and I am WAY less anxious.

So unfortunate. Poor service and unprofessional experience and a complete waist of my time. I drive down from across town to this location. I was prepared I read the material online and I scheduled an appointment online. I was there 6 mins before my appointment and was openly discriminated because of my face mask. Last I check every other public place accept. This was my first experience of discrimination and it was completely uncalled for. I even made it a point to note that I medically cannot and I have a doctors note but I am wearing a mask. She still refused service. That's fine though

Acupuncture was suggested for me by my primary care physician to help manage some pain I have been experiencing in my shoulders, neck, and wrist due to computer use/painting/drawing/slouching. After doing a little light reading about what acupuncture is, exactly, I am still mostly unclear about how it works but it has been touted to work for everything from general stress, anxiety/ mental health disorders, sleep disorders, pain management, allergies, and a whole lot of other things. Tucson Acupuncture Co-op offers a sliding scale cost for patients and has a great online reputation so I decided

I got my boyfriend a onetime session here to help with allergies, stress, and some head pressure. I had no idea it would benefit him as much as it did.
Since it is a Co-op your not by yourself with the facilitator. You're in a group setting with a bunch of lounge chairs in a room where everyone has just received their treatment.
The facilitator pricked him in the ears, head, forearms, feet and around the ankles. She said you could leave the needles in for as long as you would like. After she pricked him he said he instantly fell asleep.
Once awakening he asked the facilitator if it was

Prior to my first visit in January 2019, I had been in constant pain for 30 years. Since my very first appointment I find I am moving around better, less pain, my attitude is extremely better, I am no longer depressed and my arthritic hands no longer constantly pain me!
I highly recommend Tucson Acupuncture Co-Op.
It works great for me!
Thank you Brent, Ellen, Josh and Whitney, I am forever grateful!

In pain? Can't sleep? Feeling stressed? Try acupuncture!
I've been coming to (and volunteering for) TACO for more than 4 years. I've enjoyed treatments with all 4 acupuncturists, and come as often as I can. I feel very comfortable referring all of my loved ones, friends, colleagues, and even those I've just/haven't yet met (including YOU ;) because I know they'll (you'll!) benefit from regular, affordable treatments. There's something to be said about coming into a healing space, where others are also pursuing better health. There's an energy here that can boost your progress, IMO.

I have actually been going to see Josh for acupuncture treatments for well over 6 years. When I first began with Josh he was at another acupuncture location and he along with Ellen opened their own clinic. I really enjoy receiving treatment from Josh and I trust his judgment. While I've never received treatments from Ellen I've heard many great things about her as well. I was initially skeptical many years ago although this treatment works! The clinic is clean, friendly and professional. I would recommend the clinic to anyone!

As someone who needed acupuncture once a week to get through all the pain and stress my body was under back when I lived to San Francisco, I am so excited that Tucson Acupuncture Co-op as the first place I tried in Tucson. It's sooo cool! You get the one on one that you need and you can sleep as long as your body needs! By having super comfy lazy boy chairs in one room it makes a form of healthcare, that when it works for people, affordable and do able! Everyone working at the desk and all the acupuncturists I've had I have really enjoyed. Yes if I need cupping or massage I could also

Some things I would rate a 5 in this clinic -- namely Josh. He was great at this job and caring, receptive, listening, competent.
But two times my stay crossed over into Ellen's shift. I don't know if she didn't like having to take the needles out of "not her client", or she's just normally cold and rude. Once could be a bad day; the second time showed a trend...and I haven't been back since, which is too bad as I could use it.
The receptionist (there are several and I don't know her name) was very welcoming when I first came in. As I was filing out forms

If you are looking for acupuncture for a very low sliding scale price you have to come here. No place in Tucson would accept my insurance for acupuncture so I found Tucson Acupuncture Coop and will not be going anywhere else. This place is amazing and has cured me in so many ways. If you have never had acupuncture i will always recommend it. People are scared of the needles but there is nothing to be scared of they are placed on top layers of your skin. This is a community acupuncture so you walk into a room with a bunch of reclining chairs and choose one to sit in. They offer blankets if you feel

I was in terrible pain for some unknown reason—sciatica? Deep bruise after a recent fall? Old age? Who knows? It hurt so much to lift my right leg that I could barely walk, and my sleep was bad because I couldn’t get comfortable in my bed (or anywhere else, for that matter). I was thinking I should go to Urgent Care, but then I thought about acupuncture. I was able to get an appointment at TACO for the next day. I arrived there limping, left walking confidently. I went again the next day, and that evening I actually climbed on a ladder and installed curtain rods. Which means after two treatments

Community Acupuncture is a national movement to make acupuncture affordable and accessible. There are a few acupuncturists at this Co-op. Josh, Brent and Whitney have treated me often, are good acupuncturists with a kind professional demeanor and effective skills. I have seen them and had good results for pain management and inflammation when treated by them. They are open 7 days a week! Can't beat that.

I've been to a handful of Co-Op/Community Acupuncture studios, this one i like. I mostly like the atmosphere, they have string lights all over which help set a nice mood for relaxing.
My Favorite person is Brent, he listens and shares, and he's pretty inspiring. I always feel great leaving.

I've been in twice. The first time I saw Josh and the second David. Both times I felt so much better after the treatments. Each treatment was for a different purpose and I received relief on both occasions. The entire atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. Everything from my friendly greeting from the receptionist to time time I left was healing.

I LOVE TACO! Best Acupuncture Co-op in town! They have the nicest facility and the service is unbeatable. They operate on sliding scale... which for me means that they REALLY do want to HELP people. Some local LAc's charge over $100 for an initial acupuncture visit. Don't be fooled into thinking it's superior because you lie down on a bed in solitude. Every good acupuncturist knows that more frequent visits achieves better results. And in order for us to come in more often... it has to be affordable.
