The hotel is in a great location, unfortunately nothing was open on Christmas day or the day after, not even the Hotel restaurant. When we checked in the desk clerk (Mgr?) was friendly and very helpful. We arrived around 4pm and she informed us the room wasn't ready yet. We decided to take a walk and check out the area. When we came back around 5'ish there was a new desk clerk (Ashley - I believe). She was very rude from the first hello that I said, she never greeted us! She even threw a pen towards us that we were to use to sign the check-in sheet. Luckily there was a plexiglass barrier to keep

Homegirl at the front desk Starlett is so nice and honestly the only person that made us feel comfortable. This place is not lgbt friendly, don’t know if it’s the older clientele but most people were rude and unwilling to help. Made my friend coming to visit us during the day feel mad uncomfortable asking if he was there yesterday like… Also the room was mad dusty and there was a residue on the bedside. the “balcony” was more of a shared terrace separated by a a dying bush. aesthetics were nice if you’re into confederate-core and dust.

The hotel was able to accommodate us on short notice and with great pricing. Front desk staff was so kind and helpful. The room was clean and very spacious. The only issues we had involved loud guests - the walls are super thin!- and their pets (could hear a dog barking below us at 4am) and the fact that they lock the thermostat. It was 70 degrees outside and I couldn’t turn the air down below 69. Four of us tried it so I promise it is not my own stupidity/user error. My partner woke up absolutely drenched in sweat, complaining their back hurt as well from the very soft bed and pillows. Kind

Website still lists restaurant which has been closed per the hotel staff since March 2020! There is mention of a pay for continental breakfast on site which I didn't find in my four mornings at the hotel. Parking is ok. A couple of good restaurants nearby.
I am in Richmond for a couple of months stay trying out the various hotels, currently staying at the Hilton in downtown Richmond, much better facility, and certainly the accommodations are much better than the Berkley.

I think that this hotel was once nice but it is no longer. Despite booking a room for two people, our room included only 1 robe and 1 coffee cup. In addition, there was no conditioner provided and everything was falling apart. The blanket had holes in it and the comforter was ripped. Because of COVID, there are pretty much zero amenities (though I think the hotel is using COVID as an excuse to do very little to make guests comfortable). The restaurant wasn't open at all and besides some overpriced muffins that can be purchased for breakfast, food and drinks are nonexistent. Had this

Balcony was flooded, drain was clogged. Nice large balcony with a nice view and enough privacy. It was tiled. Pleasant. Room was large with full windows across back of room. Bathroom could use attention to detail in cleaning around baseboards, back of door, all corners. Discolored toilet seat due to age, etc. No room service, change of bedding, or cleaning while you are there. They will bring up towels and linens for you. You can remake your own bed. Not a 4 star hotel, more like a 3 star. NOTE: Bar and restaurant are NOT open. They did not let us know this when we made our reservation. We had

Let me start by saying I had a great 3 night stay at the Berkeley. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The room was spacious. We did pay extra for the terrace and it was worth it. The location is a great place to explore. I will absolutely come back for another visit.
That said this place needs a bit of an update. The bar area is closed (I'm assuming because of covid) needs to open back up.

We LOVED this hotel. It was clean, beautiful, and the staff was amazing (especially Alfreda). We had not been on a couple's vacation in years due to covid and toddler and got one night. We chose the Berkeley and were not disappointed. Of course, it started to rain as soon as we took our post trip showers. Alfreda actually lent her 2 personal umbrellas to us so we could explore the town without being soaked. Excellent recommendations by her of where to go and hang out. She was amazing and the hotel was beautiful. We totally plan on returning, when we can end this pandemic. Thank you for helping

A clean and charming little boutique hotel. No breakfast, no bar, no free parking.
Might be good for the area but it wasn't exactly what I was expecting when I saw 4 stars. Room and bathrooms were nice and spacious but that's where the amenities end.

Was really looking forward to staying here. I booked the room over 1 month in advance and I do give certain allowances for historical hotels HOWEVER, there were too many misses to make up for a few pluses. Pluses include the nice architecture of the building, the close location to restaurants and the James River Canal path. Minuses: rm# 602; the view (see attached), a mysterious sink link every time the tap was turned on, the water pressure was atrocious and the mattress was rock hard. Also, nothing was open inside despite the re-opening of many other businesses and restaurants around it (I&apos

Very outdated but the main disappointment was the lack of customer service and COVID-safe precautions with the front desk staff member we interacted with. First of all, she wasn't wearing a mask the whole time she checked me in. Not only with that interaction, but she was standing next to the front door and albeit told us to "have a good day" while we were walking out, but she wasn't wearing a mask at that time as well. There are plenty of signs requiring masks from hotel patrons, but I felt this hotel made no efforts in keeping their patrons safe.

Secondly, we brought our

What was supposed to be a long overdue girls trip, turned out to be one of the most inconvenient and upsetting experiences. I SPECIFICALLY chose the Berkeley Hotel based on the wonderful reviews and location. I was traveling with 4 other girlfriends and they had a beautiful suite (online) to accommodate us. Within 10 min of arrival the toilet overflowed. They sent a handy man up to clean up and reseal the toilet promptly but it happened 2 more times. The following morning, (today) we all showered and our toilet began to gurgle. There was water all over the floor, (clear water thank god). We called

Like some of the other reviewers, I struggled with picking a star rating. My husband and I checked in about 3 hours ago and we were both impressed with the quality of the room considering how much we paid for it. The room is spacious with a big bathroom and appears to be clean. The wi-fi is fast and TV comes with all the basic cable channels plus a couple of premium channels.

However, now it's 1:15 am in the morning and I am having trouble sleeping because our room is right across the street from a nightclub. For the last hour or so, the music has only gotten louder, punctuated by the

Misty at the front desk at The Berkeley Hotel was so very helpful and kind to us as we were weary travelers and needed to stop for the night in Richmond. She assigned us to a room on the 21st floor that had a… gorgeous view of the city- the wall of windows and a brick-floored terrace. Newly renovated, this hotel has an awesome staff and wonderful restaurant. We wanted a boutique hotel experience and found it! Thanks to Misty, and to Chef Tony and servers Nya and Ann! Planning a stay in Richmond? You’ve got to call The Berkeley Hotel - it’s beautiful, classic, has excellent service

Very surprised at how nice this place is....for $160 a night....it was as nice as some 5 stars I've been to for double the price and the cobble stone street it's on...adorable! One suggestion...dont do valet parking. There's a public parking garage next door for 1/2 the price and it took us 30 minutes to get our car back.

Paid about $40 more to stay here in a "premium room" and got shoved in this tiny dark room that's the same size as the bathroom, which has terrible water pressure, and hardly any walking space. This was after waiting 15 minutes for them to check us in with nobody else in the lobby. The front desk lady asked us to have a seat an I told her "I'm fine, I've been sitting for hours" her response was "well flip around here in your flip flops and let me do what I'm doing" the walls and sheets smell stale and dusty and there is no view as advertised in

I had to get off the highway. Road trip. I was exhausted. I got lucky when Ms. Alfreda answered the phone and got me booked in two connecting rooms within ten minutes and handed me the room keys to an oasis. Clean, spacious rooms greeted us and shut out the days frustrations. It was a relief that I could also have dinner downstairs in the hotel so I didn't have to drag my kids to another location in that car.

The restaurant was just Eh! Maybe because it was a Monday night. Maybe because there was nobody else there but a single waitress and one table of two old biddies reliving their dead

This is one of my all-time favorites.

This IS NOT of the Hilton Gardens, Marriott Courtyard genre.

IT IS a classic, boutique, hotel that meets the Road Warrior's occasional need for a little romance while traveling.

This is a "one of a kind" place in the Heart of Richmond. It's packed with lots of period furniture, dark wood paneling, recessed lighting, table lamps and gilded picture frames.

Can be very pricey. Shop the deals if you're traveling for business or on a fixed budget. Best rate I have ever received was $179.00 plus valet parking and taxes.

My husband and I have been on the road for more than two thousand miles during a northeast road trip and were looking for a quiet, nice stop on our way home. Our goal was to have a good bottle of wine, delicious dinner, and comfortable room, and this certainly fit the bill. I booked the day of using the TripAdvisor app and found a Sunday sale, so bring it on! The Berkeley Hotel did not disappoint.

I knocked off a star because the view from our room looked into a brick wall. If I could open the window, I literally could almost touch it. But I assumed that's what you get for the rate we booked

Very nice, classic upscale hotel setup on a cobblestone street in the mix of a very nice area. My colleagues usually select this place when visiting a very special client here so it was only right that during my first trip here we stayed here. I loved staying here as service was cool, room was spacious and its in a great location. Vintage furniture dresses the rooms which gives it a good look. Very classic wood bar within the dining space that makes you feel like you are back in the 70s...pretty awesome!

I had lunch here and it was very good...the crab cake sandwich is very good. Breakfast is
