Dr. Kil has led the R&D strategy and financings for SPI. He has served as the principal investigator on several NIH and Dept. of Defense (DoD) awards, and serves as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Kil studied auditory neuroscience at UC Irvine where he graduated with honors and received the Ralph W Gerard Award for outstanding research.
He began his MD/PhD studies at Georgetown University where he was an ARCS Scholar and received a Clinical Prize for his work on traumatic injury to the cochlea. He continued his graduate studies in Neuroscience and Medicine at UVA, where he received the Winn Scholarship in Otolaryngology.

Services
If you are interested in putting your skills to work for a cutting edge biotechnology start-up with an exciting new technology, we would like to talk to you. Our innovative and multidisciplinary approach to auditory drug development will improve the lives of patients in the coming years. All the above duties and responsibilities are essential job functions for which reasonable accommodation will be made.
We are born with a relatively small number of auditory hair cells (about 15,000 per cochlea) and these have to last a lifetime. The very low number of auditory hair cells present in the cochlea is one of the major reasons hearing loss is so common. Once the cells in a particular area of the cochlea are lost, hearing at that frequency is also lost.
SPI is a pioneer in neurotologic drug development aimed at treating sensorineural diseases of the inner ear. Our expertise in molecular biology, immunohistochemistry and electrophysiology have lead to the development of preclinical models of hearing loss and tinnitus that are translating into novel and successful clinical trials.
