Few consumer products undergo the scrutiny that diamonds are subjected to. That's because subtle variations in color, cut and clarity can cause significant differences in a diamond's value. Diamonds are renowned for their ability to transmit light and sparkle so intensely. We often think of a diamond's cut as shape (round, emerald, pear), but a diamond's cut grade is really about how well a diamond's facets interact with light. Precise artistry and workmanship are required to fashion a stone so its proportions, symmetry, and polish deliver the magnificent return of light only possible in a diamond.
The diamond color evaluation of most gem-quality diamonds is based on the absence of color. A chemically pure and structurally perfect diamond has no hue, like a drop of pure water, and consequently, a higher value. GIA's D-to-Z diamond color-grading system measures the degree of colorlessness by comparing a stone under controlled lighting and precise viewing conditions to masterstones stones of established color value.

We had been a customer of Thomas Joseph Jewelers for decades, but had been out of touch with them since we moved to Florida. Mike was so helpful when I called and asked him to match the thin gold band with channel set diamonds which my husband had bought me for our 25th anniversary vow renewal ceremony. Although I no longer had records for the ring, Mike was able to go back to the ring's manufacturer and match the band with rubies for our 40th anniversary vow renewal. A couple of weeks ago, I went to visit my favorite jewelry store, Thomas Joseph and Sons, to find a pair of decent sized emerald earrings.
I met with Richard Claypool who has helped me in the past and discussed size, shape, and color. Richard agreed to bring in a few examples that met the general requirements. A week later I was at the store looking at stones that Richard had brought in. They were all close to what I wanted but we decided to iterate once more to get a better color and a more reasonable price.
A week later, we had a winner! Size, color and price were reasonable and Richard said

My fiancé and I created custom rings through Thomas Joseph & Sons. Richard was amazing to work with and our rings turned out exactly as we imagined! Richard was willing to meet with us multiple times, bring in many different stone options for us to choose from, and even took diamonds from my mom's ring to use in my engagement ring. My fiancé and I did all of our wedding jewelry and some personal jewelry with Richard at TJS. Richard was phenomenal.
