Formerly known as A-1 Barber and Hair Salon, we have been in business for over 30 years, and have over 40 years total experience in hair design.

Services
The haircut is the foundation for everything when it comes to the actual style. Without the proper foundation, you can't get the right look you're going for. With our advanced training we bring to the table many techniques to give you that personalized up to date style. With a wide variety of texturing and cutting methods, we can give you anything from drastic and elaborate, to just the conservative, simple trim.
Cindy Harris is the owner of Rumors Hair Studio and has been a hair stylist for over 20 years. She strives to make sure each and every client is happy with their experience and takes pride in knowing they're more than satisfied when they walk out our door. Cindy has had many years and several hundred hours of advanced education and hands on training.

I keep getting this survey. I am a hair designer there. There are 4 cosmetics and a barber. A nice old west Durham . Neighborhood salon. Come be and see us. We take walk-ins if available. Apontments recommend. I've been in the business 38 years and this is the best group of people l've ever worked with. Call for an appointment. Martin

Really. A wonderful time. I had the good fortune of having Stevie cut my hair. This is my first haircut at this location, and I hope that it isn't my last. Even in this strange summer with Covid, the staff was friendly, welcoming, and safe. The conversation was stimulating and the haircut more that satisfying. I recommend Rumors whether you are passing through, or looking for a new permanent location. Thank you, Stevie.

I told Stevie a few words about what I wanted, and showed him a couple of pictures, and a little while later, I had what might be the best haircut I've ever gotten. As soon as he started, I knew I was in good hands. His decades of experience really show through, and he was so wonderful on the customer service side too, making me feel comfortable before I even walked in (by setting up a last-minute appointment over the phone). I felt like a work of art while I was in that chair haha. Will definitely be going back to him!

Martin is a truly excellent stylist. I first asked him to cut my long hair into a short bob style. I requested it be easy to maintain and not require me to come back for frequent re-cutting. It worked beautifully for 3 months (months!) before it started getting shaggy enough that I felt I needed a trim. I was torn between a trim (and growing it out more) or a pixie cut. Martin gave me a pixie cut so awesome that I compliments on it from another group of stylists as I walked by while doing errands; they were on break outside another salon. Martin carefully customizes the "hot trendy look" to work
