Founded by award-winning hair colorist and stylist, Katie Manselle, Culture Hair Studio is an Oribe and R+Co concept salon located in historic downtown Durham. We are focused on the art and craft of hairdressing, hair cutting, and hair coloring. Our mission is to take inspiration from current fashion-forward hair trends to give you the best haircut and color you have ever had paired with the best customer service on the planet.
A tint is added to roots and hair shaft to change color, cover/blend grey hair, and to enhance color throughout. This is NOT the same as creating dimensional lightening on hair i.e. To ensure the ultimate color preservation and shine expression, a topcoat is a seperate glossing service. It will extend the vibrancy and reflectoin of your hair.

Michelle cleaned up and fixed my bob that I had been struggling with for the past few months. She was super nice, took her time and paid attention to detail making sure I was liking how it was turning out as we went.
Also, prob the best shampoo I’ve ever had! Awesome and much appreciated little massage thrown in for some relaxation.
The girls at the front were extremely nice as well. It was raining the day I went, and they even offered to walk me to my car with an umbrella. I will def be returning 😊

It’s no exaggeration to say my hair used to be one of my biggest life dramas. I was never truly happy with it until Katie started cutting my hair. She’s just got the gift. And I know she knows what looks best on me so I can just relax and enjoy the experience. So, to sum it up, she has changed my life. I am a happier person:) and she is lovely too, just the greatest.

I was originally invited to Culture last spring as a “model” for Josh during his apprenticeship. He did a good job, I liked my cut. With any newbie, he was a bit timid. Fast forward nine months he has really come into his own. His skills and technique work are really good, he’s relaxed and decisive, and he did an amazing job on my cut. I highly recommend Josh! Culture is a great place - the staff is friendly and accommodating, and the studio is spotless.

Coming from Seattle, it was difficult for my family to find a stylist we loved and was comparable to what we were used to-- a stylist who listened to what we wanted, took their time, had excellent experience, and was willing to work with challenging hair. We tried many different stylists throughout the Triangle area until we found Culture Hair Studio. Within the first haircut, I knew it was the place for us. The cut was perfect, and Michelle really listened to what we wanted, and delivered! Now we all travel from Cary to Durham for our haircuts.

It doesn't get better than Cassie. She's a natural artist, and I totally trust her instincts with cutting and styling my hair. Even as it is growing out, my haircut keeps a nice shape and fullness because she uses very refined techniques that fight back against my hair's tendency to droop. Cassie's also a fun, and interesting person to talk with while I'm in the chair. I left there today in a much better mood than when I came in, and plus I got a super cute haircut!!
