Hospice is a philosophy of helping and caring that assists a person nearing the end of life. Its main goal is to improve the quality of life that remains with focus on rendering care for patient and the family rather than attempting to cure the disease. 2 Addressing the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of the patient and family done by a core interdisciplinary team.
3 Provides medical treatment of pain and other distressing symptoms linked with serious or life threatening and progressive illness, but, will not provide curative interventions to cure and prolong life. 4 Plan of care will be developed by interdisciplinary team patterned with the patient and family wishes, to be able to provide coordinated care focused to supportive services such as home care.

Services
To promote the highest quality of care that will meet the needs of terminally ill patient and their families emotionally, physically, socially, and spiritually. To inform, educate, and give support services in terminal care and related cases for health care professionals as well as the community at large.
Assumes overall responsibility for the medical management of all the patients on the team, medical care provided by the team or service, and may assume administrative duties as well. In some cases when the patient's physician remains involved, the medical director serves in an advisory or consultative role to the patient and to the interdisciplinary team.
