The owners of Creative Scholars Preschool, Mark and Della Allen, envisioned opening a variety of educationally based facilities in Chicago for families during the early developmental years of one's life. Being the lucky parents of boy/girl twins, Mark and Della's initial creation "Fantasy Kingdom" opened fall of 2004 and closed summer of 2012.
At Creative Scholars Preschool of Chicago, we strive to build a strong foundation for your child's love of education. With a focus on early literacy development and supporting intellectual curiosity, we promote developmentally appropriate possibilities that enable us to discover the gifts each child possesses.
I attended Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan and obtained a bachelor's degree in Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education. While attending college I had practicums in preschool, a special needs classroom (with preschool aged children), kindergarten and elementary aged children.
My husband, Mark, and I opened an indoor play space in 2004. Fantasy Kingdom was the first facility in Chicago to offer families drop in play. In 2009 we opened Creative Scholars to extend our reach of play and learning for young children. I Enjoy Working in Early Childhood Because. I enjoy early childhood education as it is the start to a child's future success.

We were fortunate enough to keep our daughter home with us and family for almost 2 years. Needless to say, I was really nervous with the transition to babyschool. The teachers...well, more like school moms...are incredible. They are loving, creative, and well-versed/trained in early childhood education. And super down to earth! And let kids be kids!
Although they follow a consistent schedule, they are understanding to the needs of each individual child and family. The school itself is cozy and very clean. We were accepted from a waiting list to a school within walking distance but decided that

We enrolled our 2.5 year old at Creative Scholars after he had been home with a nanny. This school/daycare has been outstanding from day one. The director is providing a curriculum that is rooted in the most up to date research of what young children need to learn and grow. It is play based and very interactive. My son's language, manners, self-confidence and creativity have all sky rocketed in the 3 months he has been there. The teacher is very loving, kind, devoted and smart. The owner is present, in the classrooms everyday and incredibly supportive and kind. This school has one room per age

I have been one of the coaches for the developmental soccer program that is offered at the school and I am really impressed on the manners and knowledge the students possess. Students find it easy to listen to instructions.
We usually make classes fun by incorporating themes, such as space and planets, and I'm quite impressed with how much students know about space. I sometimes find myself learning from them.
I would recommend creative scholars to parents looking for a fun, safe, and educational facility.

I can not say enough good things about Creative Scholars. Both of our daughters attended this wonderful little school for 2 years and we even postponed our move to the suburbs so our oldest could finish preschool here.
The class sizes are small (4 class rooms plus a large play space) and the environment is friendly and welcoming. The teachers are nurturing and provided individualized attention to every child.
Academics and arts programming are the two main focuses here. Our daughters were excited to come to school every day to learn and be with their friends.
The school truly is a gem and we

This place is hands down an amazing, unique place- I feel lucky to have found it. My kids have been at Creative Scholars for 3 years and 1 year. I cannot say enough about the quality of the teachers, the nurturing environment, and most importantly how much my children LOVE preschool. They have continued to grow socially and learn so much more than I could ever imagine a preschool could do while having lots and lots of fun. My son is entering KG this year and while we are sad to leave behind Creative Scholars for him, he is so instilled with a love of learning and great friendships and is more than

As an educator for almost 20 years, I cannot say enough positive things about Creative Scholars. CS provides a perfect balance of play, socio-emotional support and academic learning skills. My two daughters attended CS in the Mozarts and the Shakesperes rooms and had an amazing experience! All of the teachers are kind, patient and loving but also hold the students to high standards and push them to work hard. My older daughter was AMAZINGLY prepared for kindergarten! We moved to the suburbs and I seriously considered doing the daily 60 minute commute with my 4 year old to the city so she could

What I love about Creative Scholars? The teachers, hands-down. They're kind, patient, and encouraging while nurturing a love of learning. And of course the small class sizes are great for teachers to recognize and work with individual student strengths and weaknesses. We're with Creative Scholars for the long haul! Our daughter started going 2 half-days per week in the youngest of the 4 classrooms (for 2 year olds). Next fall, she'll be going 5 full days per week in the oldest kids' classroom (4-5 year olds). The teachers make this place truly a school and not day care. All activities--arts, drama

My daughter has been attending for 2 years now. The team there has really done an excellent job with the kids- plenty of attention and encouragement. They have also been great with recognizing my daughters strengths and weakness and moving her to different classes proactively. Most importantly, there is a lot of learning taking place- reading, vocabulary, math- I can't believe some of the stuff my daughter is doing. Creative Scholars has been a great experience for her!

My son has been attending Creative Scholars Preschool for 1.5 years and we are very happy with his development. His social skills have increased dramatically and he is doing well on the academic side of things. He particularly loves the special classes like Spanish, art, drama and music.

Owners, teachers and staff are extraordinary, kind, considerate and make the kids excited about attending creative scholars. We have been to other preschools and none of them compare. Creative Scholars has set the bar that no other school has been able to reach. They are light years ahead of anyone else. Our daughters grew so much due to the care and guidance provided by CSP. We are convinced the reason our daughters are doing so well in grade school is because of the education and care they received from CSP.
