Oftentimes, for change to occur the pain of staying the same has to be greater than the pain of change. And maybe that's why you're here. You know it's time to make a change! I am so passionate about the counseling process because I believe it is one of the many helpful tools needed to start the journey of healing.
It's time to get unstuck! If you're interested in working together, here is what I can tell you about being your counselor. I have worked with all types of concerns and am able to deeply connect, embrace and engage with you, regardless of where you currently are in life. I truly believe I'm the business of changing lives, not managing symptoms.

Life in itself can have a certain level of anxiety. But when that anxiety becomes unmanageable or we're unable to identify the source and self-soothe, then it becomes a problem. Anxiety can affect anyone - regardless of demographics. It's a silent beast that can come in the form of physical symptoms and painfully unavoidable emotional ones, too.
My name is Lauren Norris and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor. I've been in practice since 2015 and graduated in 2010 from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of the Arts in Psychology. In 2014 I received my Masters of the Arts in Counseling from Colorado Christian University and subsequently was trained in the use of EMDR for the treatment of trauma.
Depression can feel like rock bottom, can't it? But as awful as it feels, rock bottom can be a good place to be. It generally means you've exhausted all your resources and you're ready to make some changes. I've found that one of the biggest hurdles to overcome when starting counseling is fear. Generally, for change to occur the fear of the known must be greater than the fear of the unknown.
The aftermath of symptoms - both physical and emotional - following trauma or abuse can be extremely difficult to navigate. This is particularly true if the trauma was at the hands of someone else. You may feel as if your life is out of control and full of chaos. Often this is because your body and brain are still living as if the traumatic event or events are continuing in the present time.
Regardless of the type, abuse takes from an individual - it takes your personhood and crushes the person you were meant to be. All the while, leaving behind lies that make up a false identity. My desire is to help you heal from the inevitable wounds abuse produces, while understanding your true identity.
