If you want to save a couple thousand on installation and refinishing, Matt is definitely the way to go. I did save a couple thousand over anyone else's quote, and my refinished floors and new stairs look great - from a distance. Unfortunately, they didn't tell me my baseboards would be ruined. They came late on a number of days, and the whole process took twice the quoted time. Some of that was due to weather, but not all of it. The stain in some areas doesn't even go to the baseboard so we can see the old stain color. The newel post cutouts are uneven leaving gaps and the stair treads are rough

Matt's fantastic. He's doing what he was born to do. Before we hired him, I asked him how he got such good reviews and he said something like this, "It's pretty simple. I just do what people ask me to do and do it well." He's refreshingly competent, affordable and pleasant. Be sure to remove everything from any room getting refinished - that dust does get everywhere! All the time I spent covering shelves in plastic would have been better spent taking the things out of the room.

Matt repaired and refinished dog urine stains on a hardwood floor for us. He matched 60+ year old floors and made the new floors match the old. He did a great job and we were very happy with the overall refinished floors. He used an oil based stain and did two coats. We were very happy with the look and durability of his work. He also did a floor for me in 2009 that I'm still happy with the result from that. Those were original hardwood cedar floors from 1889, and he repaired and renovated them. They looked absolutely beautiful, and they are still holding up well 11 years later.
