Benson Hill Cooperative Preschool is a not-for-profit school that offers classes for children from birth through five years old. We have been proudly serving families in our community for over 50 years. Our preschool offers large daylight classrooms with a variety of materials including; free choice art area, children's library, drama room, block building room, large indoor play area and natural playground with sensory garden.
We are just a short drive from Renton, Kent, Covington, Maple Valley, Auburn, and Tukwila. We are a nut free school. We believe parents are their child's first teacher, and we elaborate on that connection to nurture the children's curiosity and self esteem in the classroom. This direct parent involvement helps children develop all aspects of growth; cognitive, social, emotional and physical.

Services
Because we are a preschool managed by parents, our school board reserves the right to select the very best preschool teachers. Our teachers have studied early childhood education and have college degrees in a variety of subjects. They offer our children a positive, nurturing environment from which to grow and provide direct guidelines, expectations and support for parents in classroom participation.
Takes minutes at the Board meeting and provides copies in a timely manner to the board members. Give interested families tours of the school or work with class Representatives to assist. Work with class chairs to collect registration paperwork and distribute and file in appropriate places. Verify with the Treasurer that Registration fees and all start up fees are paid before new families begin.
The Sparrows Class (18 months-2 years) meets two times per week* for socialization, enrichment and fun! Our morning begins with a short circle time of singing, rhymes, movement and stories. Free exploration follows with various stations including art, sensory table, play dough, light table, block building, easel and snack.
As a cooperative program, we are constantly evolving and adapting to the needs of our families. We encourage you to share new ideas and ways we might improve. While many participation opportunities are optional, we would like to emphasize certain aspects of our school that are requirements to stay enrolled at Benson Hill Co-op.
Each family in the co-op is responsible for holding either a class or board position. In order for each class and the entire school to operate smoothly, it is important that each position's responsibilities are fulfilled. Board members must be able to attend monthly board meetings, which are typically held the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

We have really enjoyed our time here. The teachers are fantastic with the children and my kiddo looks forward to attending school everyday (even when it’s not a school day.) As an only child, BHCP has really helped socialize my LO with other children. We have been here for 2 years (this one being the last) and we appreciate all the friendships and families we have met. We are so grateful for this community and are blessed to be a part of it. Thank you BHCP!

My kid and I toured a few preschools in the area and settled on BHCP because we both felt an instant connection with the educational style (based on play) and people. That connection has gotten even stronger over two years and we are really happy to be part of such a kind and supportive learning environment. Everyone at BHCP works hard to make the preschool an extremely safe and positive place for both the kids and the parents. As a parent I feel like I'm learning just as much as my kid about being compassionate and working together to make the world a better place.

I have taken all of my kids here and the school is amazing. Where they are located brings in families of all ethnicities. That diversity was really great for my kids and taught them about different practices by different cultures. Our family has made several family friends that we still keep in touch and meet up with for play dates or other fun outings.
Being a co-operative school, the parents run the school and you get out of it what you put in. Even though my family wasn't on the board, we were always informed about the going ons and involved in the decision process. Because of that, I feel

We have been at BHCP for 2 years and can't imagine being anywhere else. The community, the teachers, the play-based curriculum, the families - it's been such a wonderful experience.
My daughter has been given all the tools she needs to confidently attend Kindergarten: a gift that this anxious mom is very grateful for. We've made life-long friends and special memories thanks to this incredible school.

I love Benson Hill! This is my daughters second year at benson hill. I could not be happier with the school. There is such a sense of community. Each family plays a special roll in making this school feel like a family. My daughter loves going to school and adores her teacher. I highly recommend them. Not only has my daughter made friendships but I have to. Such a blessing.

We have been a part of the Benson Hill Co-op family for 4 years now. Our oldest is finishing off his final year while our youngest is just getting started. BHCP is a place for families and teachers to come together and be a part of a community. It brings education for both children and parents together. Parents are an active part of their child's education as well as active adults within the school. Co-op is a wonderful way to introduce your young child (birth-Pre-K) to education and independence in a gradual, nurturing way. Our friendships that we have built through this community will stand the

We looked at many preschools in the Kent area and we chose this one because of the exceptional learning environment and the quality of teachers.
The classrooms are designed for children to learn through play which is beneficial and fun.
The teachers are qualified, engaging, and kind.
The parent participation is great for moms and dads who want to be involved in their child's education, or who enjoy play time while their child is young, and also adds to a nice feeling of community.

This is my first year at Benson Hill Co-op and so far it is everything I hoped it would be. Probably one of the most affordable pre-schools you will find, and there is a lot more direct interaction with the school than you would get with a regular preschool. So far my experience in volunteering as a parent has been very enjoyable, and my child really loves spending time here (he often doesn't want to leave at the end of class). The teachers are fantastic people who truly love what they do. If you get the opportunity to enroll your child here I would highly recommend it.

We are on our 3rd year at benson hill coop, we have loved our experience here, the teachers are exceptional, after one trial with the class we were sold, I love the nature based playground (our kids pretend cook with mud and plants and get to roll logs or pick and eat some of the plants from our sensory garden. The creative and fun options my son has with different activity rooms to play in like free choice art, block room, pretend play drama room and sensory table, which the teachers do such a great job setting different themes depending on what the kids will be learning that week. Its nice to
