Marin Joe's is my husband's favorite family restaurant and now I love it too. The bar is the perfect cozy spot to hang by the fire and have a drink and a little bite. While the food is just good, the ambiance and staff make the whole experience great.

I miss Joe’s. Now living in Hawaii!
Nothing like it if you enjoy grill MEAT!
Yes the ambience is as original as the building and staff.
I used to finish work in S.F late and stop off 101. All the time. No problem parking then, either.
I would simply walk in the door, sweep pst the hostess, and take a seat at the counter, where it would be suitably warm from the charcoal grill blazing in front with numerous cuts of meat sizzling away.the grill chef pointedly knew my order- lamb chops(3), tomatoes, and a carafe of house red wine. Just a nod and bare conversation, and bread was simply placed

A visitor once described this place as a 3 star restaurant in a diner. Unpretentious but all of the ingredients used are top flight. It's an institution. Servers have been there for many years. Even a simple BLT is extraordinary there. Highly recommended.

Huge portions, great food, friendly staff. What else could you want?
We had the prime rib (excellent, better than House of Prime Rib) and lasagna (also excellent, maybe on the sweet side). We went for the pesto sauce on the pasta, which was perhaps the best pesto I've ever had.

Marin Joe's is one of those restaurants that I have seen on the side of the 101 freeway for literally as long as I can remember. I didn't realize that it is a Marin County institution and good restaurant until I sat in the lively waiting area of the restaurant waiting for a salad Joe's had donated for me to take to a charity event. I promised myself I'd eat there soon.
Soon, turned out to be last night. My three companions and I got lucky and were able to sit in a large comfortable booth right away. It was 6:00pm on a Monday night. I've been told that the restaurant is quite crowded on weekends
