Founded by a group of accomplished practitioners, Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts began with solidarity of purpose. We are always striving to help restore the ancient traditions by sharing our clinical experience and passion for Chinese medicine. We also believe that our comprehensive education can prepare students for success.
Our name, Daoist Traditions, comes from the close relationship between the Dao and Chinese medicine. This union has existed since the ancient beginnings of the Chinese culture. Chinese medicine, much like the philosophical tradition of Daoism, encourages us to live in harmony with the seasons and to follow the principles of nature as a model for the ideal life.

Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts is a center of educational excellence, cultivating the next generation of teachers and leaders within the field of Oriental Medicine. The college is known for its academically rigorous and transformative curriculum, its service to the community, and its exemplary leadership in Oriental Medicine education.
Thank you for your interest in Daoist Traditions. Inspired by the teachings of Jeffrey Yuen, 88th generation Daoist priest, we are dedicated to advancing knowledge in the field of Chinese medicine. Our student body consists of a mix of students who have recently completed their undergraduate studies as well as professionals seeking new careers.
We are located in the Montford historic district, a residential neighborhood adjacent to downtown Asheville. Many of our students bike to campus, and public transportation is also available. The campus houses our fully-equipped classrooms, student dining facilities, our library and computer lounge, and outdoor seating areas.
Our faculty is comprised of experienced practitioners who share the desire to carry out the mission of the college and to help each student excel. All of the licensed acupuncturists and physicians on our faculty are also practicing clinicians who bring their real-life professional experience into the classroom and clinic.
The authority to operate a professional training program in Oriental Medicine in the state of North Carolina was granted in 2003 by the North Carolina Acupuncture Licensing Board and Daoist Traditions opened its doors that same year.

I'm a graduate of the class of 2021 and am quite confident I received one of the highest quality Chinese medical educations offered in the US. The first two years were heavy on herbs, point actions and indications, and Chinese medical theory with some biomed thrown in. Yes, there are a lot of powerpoints in the first two years - that's because you have about 230 formulas, 350 herbs, and over 300 points to memorize information about. The last two years were biomedicine heavy and also included advanced level Chinese medical theory.

Dao rests. Dollar rules.
Disclaimers. 1. Before beginning to write this (critical) review, I did attempt to work things out with this “college.” They summarily decided that keeping a few hundred dollars (that they did not earn) is more important than losing the goodwill of the community. Well, so be it. 2. My review is not about their clinic. I have not visited it and have no basis for evaluating it. But I would certainly caution prospective patients to do further research into this establishment before agreeing to any treatment here. 3. I am reviewing their doctoral program. For all I know

The worst 4 years of my life. Do yourself a favor and attend literally any other school or change majors. Most students are afraid to speak up due to retaliation from the administration. When prospective students come to the school we are warned not to speak negatively about the school. The president is a narcissist and the administration are generally abusive and inconsiderate towards students in general. They are even more so with students who have disabilities. I had to hire lawyers in order to get my full ADA accommodations. They claim to have teachers/professors that have studied with Jeffrey

The free Herbal Consultation was the most in-depth medical consultation I've ever had. I had a remote session with Patricia, a Masters degree graduate student with several years of practice in acupuncture and eastern medicine, along with a panel of remote students who were learning and assisting Patricia and the instructor with developing a personalized herbal formulation for my specific issues as determined during the consultation. All in attendance were highly professional and very knowledgeable with Eastern medicine practices and holistic healthcare. The college and clinic are a true hidden

I had the worst experience with one of the students. I know his intentions were good but he needs someone to watch him more intently. My physical anxiety was through the roof, sweating bullets. I have a high pain tolerance but this stuff was above painful. He left me for longer than he should have without checking on me and I just wanted the needles out. He put three needles into my knee that he knew had an ACL tear. I told him I never have had acupuncture before so I thought that this was normal, and it would help my general pain from my ACL, but I was totally wrong. Gave me some herbs and sent

First of all , most of the 5 star reviews here are for either the student clinic (a separate location and name) or for Jeffrey Yuen's lectures (a globally-known traveling Chinese Medicine master who visits twice a year to teach CEU courses) at another campus building owned by DT.
Not many students write reviews, most people are too scared to. And I can understand, I'm scared too. But it also feels imperative that people have the option to have the truth and make good decisions for their futures and their investments.
My partner and I moved to North Carolina to attend this school, Daoist Traditions

Jeffery Yuen seminars are worth the travel time and money. He is articulate, highly intelligent and has a vase knowledge of elemental healing arts. I have been to two of his seminars years apart. Each time has been amazing amount of information. This is not your typical CEUs....I see in him the qualities of an enlightened person and teacher! Namaste

This place is so incredible!! Everyone is so friendly and amazing to talk with. I worked with Lynn several times and she is absolutely fantastic. She was so clearly passionate about her work, knowledgeable, answered my many questions and did such an amazing job with her treatment. I had been having chronic neck and shoulder pain and not only felt so much better after my three sessions, but got such incredible advice about healthy habits to incorporate into my life (along with nice herbs to help with the neck pain.) I cannot say enough great things about this place and the caring folks who work

I love this place. Everyone I have dealt with has been pleasant.
I never though I would, but I love working with interns and students because they're so interred in what they're learning... I feel like they pay more attention to you and are more invested in your outcome than someone who has been practicing for years.
The price is reasonable and the herbal formulations they prescribe are inexpensive too.

I've been getting treatments at this clinic for over a year. I'm always impressed with the professionalism and compassion of the interns, supervisors and staff, and the treatments have helped guide my life in a more harmonious direction. Not only that, but the herbal dispensary is a wonderful resource for patients that is not found in many low-cost acupuncture clinics. Highly recommended.

Lovely acupuncture treatment! Came with a friend and was treated by a 4th-year student in her final months. She was wonderful; took time to talk to me about my body and state of mind, health and general well-being. From there she discussed what she planned on doing with the needles and cupping. As we went through the treatment she explained what the various techniques were used for and was thorough in answering any question I had throughout.
The session took about 1.5 hours and I left feeling very happy, relaxed and content.
I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone who is curious
