When I started college I was an accounting major. However, that quickly changed once I took introduction to psychology. I found the information to be very intriguing and before I knew it, I was hooked. I began to enjoy analyzing thoughts and behaviors, along with helping people problem solve through difficult times.
The benefits of counseling can far outweigh any discomfort encountered during the process. Changes in beliefs and behavior - To change belief systems that you have lived by and believe are true, can be scary. Changes in dynamic (family, relationship, etc.) can be disruptive - Once skills are developed and utilized, areas of your life will get affected, but remember it's for the better.
During non-office hours or when I am not immediately available, you are directed to call The McHenry County Crisis Program: (800) 892-8900. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or have someone take you to the nearest emergency room for help. Usually the first two appointments are utilized for assessing the situation and planning of care.
If you have health insurance, it is important for you to verify your mental health benefits so you understand your coverage prior to your appointment. Payment of fees, including any required co-pays, is expected at the time of each appointment.

If you are using insurance benefits, the office will file insurance claims for you, and will honor any contractual agreements with managed health care companies that have specific reimbursement restrictions and claim requirements.
