Powers Jewelry Designers was formed in 1976. Richard Powers purchased Hudson Jewelers from the Rau family. It was a tiny store in Downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin at 409 West Wisconsin Avenue. Vickie Rau, our designer-goldsmith and Lisa Rau in sales, stayed with us for many decades until their retirements, making a tremendous contribution to our long term success.

Thank you Tim for being so much help!! I got my engagement ring else where and decided to go with morganite for my stone without being told how foggy it it would look with daily wear. They then told me they could not change the stone to anything else and were 0 help. Luckily I was told to go see Tim and right away I knew how much help he was going to be. He instantly told me it could be done and he would make it my dream ring and Tim 10000% came through with that promise. So absolutely thrilled with the service and creativity that I received from Lorry Powers. Her dad is the funny one but she is the one carrying the torch for great design and service in Milwaukee. Couldn't be more thrilled! Started our relationship with a celebration purchase that my husband made... then many small repairs. Culminated this week with our 25th anniversary ring set, using a vintage single stone and a band design incorporating diamonds from several sentimental rings. Love it!

Leading up to our wedding, Tim helped custom design my wedding band, reset my grandmothers necklace so I could wear on my wedding as well as helped with additional jewelry for me, the groom and the Maid of Honor. Such a great place and Lorry is so helpful. I went in really not knowing what I wanted to change about the jewelry pieces I had with me. I loved the stone I had but I wasn't crazy in love with the setting. Lorry helped me pick out a new setting while keeping the same stone for my ring and she designed some earrings to go with the ring which I am in love with! I would highly recommend!

I went to a better-known jeweler to sell some old gold and silver, but at the time I couldn't find my diamond engagement ring. That turned out to be a lucky break, because when I did find the ring and decided to check Yelp, I went to Powers...and they offered me FOUR TIMES what the competition had estimated from my description. Took my watch here for a new battery today and had a great experience. Other high-end jewelers in the are had trouble servicing my timepiece in the past. Absolutely love Powers. We didn't feel pushed or pressured at all to hurry up and pick a ring. I went in once with my fiance to give him an idea of what I was looking for but he went back 4+ times to pick the center diamond and he didn't feel like any of the employees were annoyed or antsy for him to pick it out. They would send back diamonds and bring in new ones until he felt like he found "the one." They are very reasonable, willing to work with you and give you exactly the ring of your dreams. I can NOT express enough how WONDERFUL this place is. First, when I was getting married (about 9 years ago), my husband went in and got a pair of beautiful diamond earrings and they put it on layaway and let him walk out the door with it.
