An annuity is a long-term investment between you, the annuitant, and an insurance company, the annuity issuer. Under this contract, you pay after-tax funds to the annuity issuer, who then invests your principal to meet your financial objectives and pays you or your beneficiary back with earnings (subject to the claims-paying ability of the issuer).
What is auto insurance? Auto insurance protects you against financial loss if you have an accident. It is a contract between you and the insurance company. You agree to pay the premium and the insurance company agrees to pay your losses as defined in your insurance policy. Liability coverage pays for your legal responsibility to others for bodily injury or property damage.
As a business owner, you need the same kinds of insurance coverages for the car you use in your business as you do for a car used for personal travel -- liability, collision and comprehensive, medical payments (known as personal injury protection in some states) and coverage for uninsured motorists.
There are many forms of dental health insurance. Some, like car insurance, only provide a benefit to the few people who have a costly accident. Some, like life insurance, typically don't provide a benefit for many years. Some, like medical insurance or health insurance, provide immediate insurance benefits, but can be very costly.
Most home insurance policies do not provide protection against the damages that earthquakes can cause. For homeowners in areas that are prone to earthquakes, and even those with a history of quakes-no matter how rare-should consider the benefits of earthquake insurance.

With the protection of a traditional home insurance policy, the foundation damage and wall damage caused by an earthquake, as well as the value of any contents that are destroyed, would likely not be covered.Instead, an insured would have to pay out of pocket to repair and replace anything damaged.
