Services
The Whelchel Funeral Home in Branson was first established when Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Whelchel of Hartville moved to Branson in 1906 to open a hardware store. After discerning the need for a funeral home in the area, they opened the first Whelchel Funeral Chapel in 1915 in the basement of their hardware store.
Funerals fill an important role for those mourning the loss of a loved one. By providing surviving family and friends with an atmosphere of care and support in which to share thoughts and feelings about death, funerals are the first step in the healing process. It is the traditional way to recognize the finality of death.
David Stahlhut is a second generation funeral director. He grew up around the funeral business watching his father. At that time the local funeral homes also provided ambulance service. He followed his father's guidance and began funeral work by making on-call nighttime ambulance runs and by day cutting grass, pulling weeds and washing cars.
You have many choices for services before or after the cremation takes place. The suggestions below are only some of your choices. Our funeral and cremation professionals will explain your options to you, so you can select what's best for your family and your situation. Just like a traditional burial service; with the remains present for visitation and for the ceremony, except the cremation will follow instead of burial.
When it comes to your final arrangements, shouldn't you make the decisions? The arrangements you make will reflect your exact wishes and desires. Pre-arranging your own service will help to ease the burden of your loved ones. It will also alleviate any questions, problems or differences, which can occur among family members.
