Dr. Gum received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry, where he was also awarded the Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement in Restorative Dentistry.
Prior to attending dental school, and after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vertebrate Zoology from the University of Washington, he owned and operated a dental laboratory for eight years, crafting superior crown and bridgework for several island dentists.Born and raised in Honolulu, Dr. Gum graduated from Kaimuki High School.

By far THE best dentist one could ever see in their life! He is extremely caring and he goes out of his way to check up on you to make sure you're okay. Never did I think a dentist would do such a thing. It made me so happy and grateful. Gum does impeccable work! I had concerns in the past with my previous dentist and really wish I would have found him sooner.

You may experience cold and heat sensitivity and some gum soreness; this usually subsides within a few days. 4. Dr. Gum and his staff are very friendly and personable. They demonstrate professional skills and are very knowledgeable in making sure that I know how to take care of my teeth properly. They take an interest in how I am feeling and make me feel at ease and comfortable. Dr. Gum is fully aware of my anxieties and negative childhood memories of going to the dentist. I would highly recommend Dr. Gum to family and friends!

My initial appointment I was greeted with a warm welcome and smiles. Barbara was working the front desk and she efficiently entered all my needed data - name, numbers and insurance. The hygienist then brought me to a clean chair in the back. She had me wash my hands prior to sitting down. Then rinse my mouth a couple time prior to cleaning. After cleaning, she coached me on different ways to floss affectively.

Today was my first visit with Dr. Gum and his attentive staff. His office has stringent covid protocols which started when Barbara escorted me at the entrance of the bldg.
Dr. Gum advised me of services and care provided by himself and his staff. He encouraged questions from me. He made expectations clear.
Dr. Gum took numerous detailed x-rays and photos of my entire mouth. He visually examined each tooth while his assistant made notations.
A six point check of each tooths gumline was done by Dr. Gum and again results recorded. This is the first thorough gum examination I have ever had.

I had previously switched over from another dentist after not receiving good service and it was completely and night and day. I was looking for a dentist who could accommodate my schedule and after reading the yelp reviews for Dr. Gum, I decided to give them a call. Barbara (his wife) answered the phone and confirmed their posted schedule. I work a block away and they stay opened until 6pm on Wednesdays and are open on Saturdays! I was lucky enough to get an appointment on the same week. I was very happy and proceeded to fill out my new patient form online. It's a little challenging to do on the phone, however it was worth it to eliminate the additional office time.

Been coming here for some years now after having two previous dentist, Dr. Gum does impeccable work! I had concerns in the past with my previous dentist and really wish I would have found him sooner.
Between Doc and my Orthodontist, my entire smile, jaw line and teeth and been completely transformed!
I can't express my deepest gratitude enough. The communication, confidence, patience, quality of work, concerns, etc... were all traits that my previous dentists lacked a bit in and I found it with Dr. Gum.
Needless to say, I highly recommend his office and staff!

I had a wisdom tooth extraction and I was astonished how quickly he completed it without any pain at all.

My husband had his two front teeth knocked in half on our vacation to Hawaii on a surf board. We called Dr. Gum's office and they fit us in next day. His staff was so kind. They were a blessing and we are so lucky that we found them! Thank you. Highly recommend, he did a great job and explained everything from insurance to future dental things we needed to know.

Let me start by saying that I love Dr. Gum. The fact that he is into carving and other meticulous crafting makes me feel like he loves what he is doing. Sadly, I was in a car accident on the same day as my appointment and couldn't call them in time so I was charged $75!! Thats one way to kick you when you're down. I paid cash for every visit and they do offer some discounts if you pay with cash.

My entire family goes to Dr. Gum and we all think his office is awesome. We wouldn't go anywhere else. Everyone I send his way feels the same. Reasons I love my dentist:
1. He steadfastly refuses to use silver amalgam fillings on kids. He only will do ceramic fillings, but he charges for the cost of silver. Philosophically I really respect him for this.
2. He doesn't do work that you don't actually need just so he can get paid. I had another dentist tell me that I needed to have fillings done as a "preventative measure." Went to Dr. Gum, and he said I didn't need

Dr. Bennett Gum was an outstanding dentist. HOWEVER, his office manager was a total FLAKE. I work in a hospital and had an emergency that prevented me to show up to my appointment (keep in mind my appointment was cosmetic for Venires) and I paid in advance for the office visit. Because, I did not cancel within the 48 hours she kepts my advance payment in adition sent a bill for 75.00 for not canceling with in the time frame. Very poor Office management. I DON'T RECOMEND ANYONE TO VISIT HIS OFFICE. What would happen if your son/daughter was sick or car trouble or any other problems preventing

Dr. Bennett Gum is outstanding! He really cares and does a fabulous job. When he injected the painkiller I didnt feel a thing! It was totally painless!
The facilities is very clean, professional and attractive..and did I mention they offer coffee in the front? The coffee machine is one of those fancy single-serve fresh brewed kind of machines! I had fun making my hot cocoa! Yes..There is even one for hot cocoa! There is like 4 kinds of coffee...Rocket Fuel Coffee anyone? =)
