Therapy should be fun. It should invigorate you and let you feel happier while leaving than you did coming in. It should be something you look forward to, not something you push yourself to get through. My goal is for you to leave the sessions feeling lighter, more energized, and more enthusiastic about your future.
My goal is to enthrive; and to help you do the same for yourself. Counseling is not an event or an appointment, but rather a skills session for your brain, to help it develop new methods of looking at the world and relating to it and other people. I have worked with hundreds of clients to address a wide range of issues, including Depression, Anxiety and Worry, Alcohol and Drug Use, and Adoption Issues.

This includes both addiction and misuse problems, whether legal, financial or relationships. I resist calling alcohol, drug or cell phone use Substance Abuse. To me it's not abuse when the substance is using you exactly like it wants to. It makes more sense to call it substance misuse or addiction because it's not the substance that's being abused, it's the substance user.
Walking is wonderful therapy for both mental and physical health. To encourage you to walk for your health, we are creating a kickback program where you receive a coupon for the value of your copay if you go for a walk, either for a walk and talk therapy session or on your own. Anxiety tries to convince us it doesn't exist by utilizing our brain's tendency to use limited information to predict future risks.
A support and understanding group created for people experiencing high levels of anxiety and stress. We are focussing on building protective mechanisms in the short term while creating cognitive and emotional change for long-term freedom from being pushed around by worry. The group will help members regain empowerment in their situation by giving them education about what is happening and the tools to make a real difference.
Contacting a counselor is a difficult thing. There may be conflicting emotions and reasons for doing so or for trying other methods of change. I try to make it easy with several options. You can call the secure office line to just talk about the situation to see if counseling is right for you. You can email to get feedback or a personal reply about your situation, or you can anonymously text me to get feedback without committing to anything.
