Since its founding in 1972 by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gaylord, Catholic Human Services has been committed to making a difference in the lives of the people in Northern Lower Michigan. We serve individuals and families regardless of faith, income, race, or ethnicity.

We have grown over the years to multiple, highly recognized main and satellite offices in Northern Michigan's 21 counties for providing hope-filled social, emotional, and spiritual support to all people.We provide mental health, substance abuse, prevention, pregnancy counseling, open adoption, social services, and senior services to over 26,000 people per year.

Catholic Human Services enhances the lives of those we serve by providing hope-filled social, emotional and spiritual support. The purpose of Catholic Human Services is to fulfill the social mission of the Catholic Church.

Catholic Human Services seeks to heal, strengthen, enhance, and build healthy individuals, families, and communities by providing a wide range of services, including advocacy, education, counseling, adoption, prevention, and outreach services to all people throughout the life span within the twenty-one counties of northern lower Michigan.
Bishop Raica earned a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University, a master of divinity degree from St. John Provincial Seminary in Plymouth, a master of arts degree in religious studies from the University of Detroit, and a licentiate and doctorate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.
Our clinical staff at Catholic Human Services is trained and certified to provide best-practice outpatient treatment to people with substance use disorders. Our treatment philosophy is based on the belief that addiction is a disease and that abstinence is a necessary first step in managing the condition.
Catholic Human Services has an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for employers and their employees. Offered by forward-looking firms as part of a benefits package, EAP is a ready resource that employers and employees can turn to before personal difficulties escalate and interfere with job performance.
Against the backdrop of accelerating pressures in everyday life, Catholic Human Services offers counseling to get you through an array of difficult problems. We use best-practice counseling strategies within a person-centered, strengths-based approach to empower individuals and families to work toward their goals.
