Services
With over 25 years of experience in the industry, Chef Michael is excited to have a place of his own, create delicious meals and share his food and talent to the community. Melissa is by his side, helping in all ways she can to make this a great experience for everyone. Our restaurant is available for private events: weddings, business lunches, dinners, cocktail receptions, and more.
Chef Michael prepares all of our family and individual meals in-house. Fresh ingredients and made every week for the best quality and a wide variety of dishes. Entrees, snacks, desserts - he strives to meet all your needs while also making it tasty. Since he hand seasons, hand cuts, hand packages, you may not get the same thing exactly twice.

Get to know you a little bit. Life is uncertain right now and it's difficult to gather with family and friends.

My family had lunch there today. Chicken was moist & delicious, seasoned perfectly. Salads are filling and home fries are awesome. Homemade bread & cookies were excellent. Highly recommend this place, owners were friendly and pleasant.

It has been a bit since we have enjoyed this fantastic small eatery. My favorite is the crispy Yardbird but the Black & Blue steak salad is a very close second.
Spouse devoured the Chicken Salad sandwich. Everything is fresh, crisp, flavorful & the restaurant is spotless. Their variety of refrigerated take out meals are so handy, easy to heat & serve & are always a hit. Still the 5 star hidden gem!

Everything is delicious and the folks that run this place are so nice. I love that you can grab takeaway lunches from the ice box. I highly recommend that you give this place a shot. Really excited to see folks bring something special like this to Liberty Hill.

Ok i just finished sharing the grilled cheese, loaded baked potato and the spicy blue bird.
I seriously can't explain how delicious this food was. And if i can't explain it neither could my 2 year old. The look on his face when he tried the slaw was priceless and you can't miss the head nod and thumbs up when he really tasted it. Great job Malted Grains!!! DELICIOUS!!!!!!

I had to come back and edit my review because I realized I didn't say anything about it and malted grains deserves all the praise. The sandwiches here are amazing. The Saturday bakery selection is also exquisite. (But hurry because it sells out fast!!) If I could give them 10 out of 5 stars I would!!

Great little spot. There is a bakery counter with handmade sweets and savories and a small sit down area. The menu is simple but everything we had was tasty and seemed to be made fresh. The service was friendly and they made any accomodations we asked for. The only con was any substitution was pretty pricey. Home fries instead of chips, $3. Add avocado, $2. If you get picky - it's easily going to cost you an extra $10 or so. Still, I'd recommend stopping by and at least getting a pecan roll - which was amazing.

Stopped in for lunch and was delighted with everything. Shared two different chicken sandwiches and must say they were among the best I've ever had. Just thinking about the chicken, mushroom and cheese sandwich has me salivating a little. Service was great. Food outstanding. We'll be back for sure. Try them! You won't regret it.

What a wonderful experience. We stopped with our two grand children. The burgers they ordered were huge and the fries were great. I ordered the Hill Billy Philly, and it was a real treat. We were asked where we were traveling from and where we were going to, they suggested some sights we might enjoy on our travels. It was a nice clean, friendly place with great food and service.

Just a tip- they don't serve breakfast anymore! Drove out here to get some French toast, but when I got there I didn't see a breakfast menu. They said they stopped serving breakfast there. I can't give an accurate rating cause I left to go get some breakfast elsewhere lol. It looked good and I'll be back to get some lunch or dinner!

AMAZING FOOD!!! My wife and I tried malted grains for the first time today and had a wonderful experience. Chef Michael and boss lady Melissa really are some of the best people around. Even with a COVID limited menu the food was perfect and everything I could want for a lunch stop in town. Literally the best home fries I've ever eaten! The coconut pudding was to die for and my wife loved the piggy back. The personal touch on this place made it a new weekly must for me. Can't recommend enough!

I have been to MG many times but today was my last. The food is good but walking in to see the owner NOT wearing a mask is not worth possibly getting sick. It's disturbing to see him actually bring food to a table of customers not having masks on either. Putting them at risk. Watching the owner speak to customers without a mask was very upsetting.
Wear your mask as the sign on your door says!

Stopped in town on my day off to try out this place recommended by a friend who works here along side their family! Tried the yardbird and I gotta say it was absolutely amazing! Nicely seasoned, crispy, crunchy, and cooked to perfection! I also had a side of fries to go with my sandwich and let me tell you...these were absolutely amazing! If you’re ever in town I’d highly recommend this place ☺️

First visit to Malted Grains. Made a reservation for Sunday Brunch. When our party of 4 arrived they were very busy with two couples waiting. We were seated within 10 minutes as tables cleared. I recommend making a reservation. Very limited seating.

Nice selection on the Brunch menu. We ordered Avocado Toast, Cobb Salad, Biscuits and Gravy. Food was served after a short wait. Everything was delicious with generous portions. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Another lady, manager/owner, not sure of title stopped by table
to make sure everything was to our satisfaction.

Go, eat, enjoy

I try to come here as often as possible. The best staff, the best food, and most of all... it's supporting a local business.

The food? Fantastic. I've never had anything I didn't care for (I get something new every time...I've just about completed the menu)

The atmosphere? It's awesome. It's small, but you have to be to keep up with quality.

The staff? Always a pleasure. David (pretty sure that's his name! Sorry if I got it wrong) is fantastic, he is the one that serves us most of the time.

The prices? They're not that bad, they're what you should

Food was delicious and service was friendly. We ordered burgers, both were perfect. Our friends ordered the chicken sandwiches: bluebird and regular. The side salads were nice, very pretty and tasty. Photos of all included. The best part was the apple pie. The waiter told us it had been made that morning. Omg! Best pie I've had in a long time. You could definitely tell the pie crust was made from scratch. It was flakey and delicious. The filing was fantastic as well. Not too sweet and just the right amount of apples. Only wish they would have had vanilla ice cream to go with it (he said they ran

Upon arrival, the staff were very accomodating in moving tables together to allow for a family and friends to sit together since the interior is smaller. Throughout the visit, the staff was also attentive, but not overbearing.
In regards to the food, it was amazing and blew past my expectations for the type of food and location. I ordered a 'Country Boy', which has two eggs, sausage patty, sausage link, bacon, seasoned potatoes, chefs biscuit covered in sausage gravy and three very fluffy and delicious pancakes. There are varying options you can customize this meal with such as toast instead of

Go for the food not the service. Had the Klucky Lady - the chicken was breaded and cooked perfectly the sausage gravy had a lot of good flavor. The plate overall is a great combination of items and a really good Breakfast Platter.
they weren't that busy in the staffs in quite overwhelmed and took a while to get most things to us and never came back to check and see if we need anything outside of one water refill. Plus call me picky but when you refill water bring a pitcher to the table don't take my glass for me and take a few minutes to come back with it.

Very good cafe/bakery that's located inside one of downtown Liberty Hill's cool-looking historic stone buildings. (I don't know if it's a designated landmark or anything, but the place dates all the way back to 1901!)

Stopped in on a local's recommendation to try their lunch and ordered both their Pulled BBQ Pork and Hand Carved Roast Beef. The pulled pork shoulder was fine, though nothing to write home about with a slightly dry appearance and a drizzle of a too-vinegary sauce. On the other hand, the sliced beef was excellent, fork tender and topped with a truly interesting
