This was a wonderful evening. This was a scheduled event and Ronnie worked with us on the menu for our evening. We had some serious dietary restrictions and he blew us away with the menu he came up with. Absolutely stunning and while not cheap, certainly a really good value for the price.
I would definitely consider going back here for future small gatherings. Fantastic local secret spot.

Never hear of this unknown gem until suggested by a friend of a friend. Tucked in woods off Cuernavaca area (Commons Ford), in a house like setting with windows all around. Not crowded or noisy.
Attentive, unobtrusive service from Ronnie himself, only one other couple, felt like a private dinner party.
Food was perfect, and about half what it should be in town.
We’ll be back!

It's a beautiful and quiet setting, but the food tasted to me more like competent home-cooked food than professionally-prepared fare. If you're looking for cooking from scratch, this place isn't for you. If you don't mind that the ingredients came from packages at the grocery store, then you can surely enjoy the forest view and the nice people who serve you.

The is a Special Place for my family and I. Ronnie makes wonderful food. You'll need to book in advance, and select the meal you would like. Each time is a little different as the menu changes, it's a simple 5 course meal, with a meat, fish, or veg option. The finale is Ronnie's cookies, with a mixture of shortbread fudge and other sweet treats, which are also available for purchase at your nearest Whole Foods Market.

Charming, hidden spot where you can get an inexpensive full-service meal in a natural setting. Drive slow - it's easy to miss the turn as the building isn't visible from the road. The menu is prix fixe and changes regularly. Pricing is ~$20pp. Wines are a modest $15-20/bottle. Service is warm and attentive. Come here if you're in the area and looking for a local experience, but hard-core foodies should check expectations at the door.

I have no idea why this restaurant is not packed to the gills but I'm grateful that it's so easy to get access to this amazing place, which has been an Austin institution for almost 15 years. I've been 7-8 times over the last few months, and we're adding this place to our weekly dining out plans.
---Food: Delicious home-made dishes prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients procured by Ronnie daily. The menu changes every week, and is posted a few weeks out on the website (www.ronniesrealfood.com). You can choose the protein for the main dish - usually beef, chicken, fish

You have to order ahead, so the nice part you don't have to spend your time stressing over menu options while you're there. It's so personal (I've sometimes been there when we're the only group being served) and the food is delicious. I love taking my family here when they visit from out of town, or for special occasion dates with my husband. He and I are both picky eaters, but we always enjoy the courses

This place is my favorite place to eat in Austin. You get a four course meal (plus a free appetizer to munch on) for the price of an entree! Dining here is more like a private chef experience; and the surrounding windows (looking into a quiet hill country forest) make it especially cozy. I think my favorite part about this restaurant is knowing Ronnie prepared and cooked the food fresh just for you. He has perfected his recipes and makes sure what he is serving exceeds the expectations that customers usually have when dining out at a restaurant. I love bringing guests here because it is unlike

This place is great! It's a little out of the way, but definitely worth the drive and time it takes to make a reservation. Every course was delicious, especially the cream of asparagus soup (which surprised me because I don't even care for asparagus all that much). I don't think you can get a better 4 course meal for 26 dollars, gratuity and tax included. Ronnie is a superb host and cook. We will definitely be coming back.

We've gone to this place over a variety of years, it's intimate, quiet and the service, by Ronnie, is excellent. Reservations must be made in advance and meal selections made from the menus posted on their website. Dinner begins at 7 with a delightful appetizer. There follows soup, main course, salad, desert and coffee, all delicious and included in the reasonable one-stop pricing. They now have a select wine list or you can bring your own and pay a corkage fee. The tables, from four to seven in number, make the evening seem like a private party where you just don't know some

My friends and I have been going to Ronnie's for years.
This is a unique restaurant in every way. Ronnie is the chef and usually does the greeting and serving. He describes each course and will always share recipes.
He provides a four- course meal with additional small appetizers, and coffee or tea with dessert. When we have finished one course he immediately brings the next- the service is always seamless.
The restaurant overlooks woods and is usually very quiet . Tonight we were served asparagus soup with pistachio, braised lamb, a very fresh field green salad and

I've had this restaurant on my list for ages based on several friends' recommendations. When I learned about the concept, I appreciated Ronnie's business savvy. Why offer a ton of menu options when you can focus on three entrees every week and make them to perfection? Not only does this cut down on his cost of raw ingredients but also makes the guest feel confident that Ronnie has worked out any kinks in the recipe.
I first suspected something was off when, as another reviewer in 2009 wrote: "When the busser/waiter served our appetizer, my wife and I looked at the mini-quiches

Ronnie's Real Food Bistro offers a unique experience in terms of dining. Not necessarily the most efficient or appealing, but I guess it is hard to complain with a non existent corkage fee at a prix-fixe menu establishment such as RRFB. Additionally, the fixed price at under $30 is stellar.
The location is attractive, to boot. Being set away from the city on Bee Caves, Ronnie's seems to tell you, "You would be hard-pressed to not consider me for an affordable 'fancy dinner', no?"
As they alter the menu, there is no sense in reviewing the actual meal had here but

This place IS very unique, delicious, quaint, and VERY enjoyable ambiance. Decent value for the dollar, nice to bring ones own wine.
But I found the quality of the food to be not completely consistant: I had requested a very light en tree and was promised little cream and steamed veggies. There was still cream (which my tummy attested to the next morning) and the veggies were peas and carrots. Tasty, but not exactly out of this world.
The soup, however = amazing, and i will be recreating the recipe soon. Dessert, also very yummy, though my mom makes better crisp.

Ok....I guess I'm going to be the voice of dissent here. I went to Ronnie's a few weeks back, and I wasn't very impressed with the food. Ronnie was very friendly and great to talk to, but the food itself was bland and unflavorful.
We started out a few tartlets, which were good (but I suspect they were the frozen kind you get at costcos). Then came the magenta soup.....I thought this pretty ok, but my friend didnt like it. The worst was the entree. We both got beef bourginogn and it was, well, blah! No taste, and the beef was quite tough. Dessert was a custard, which would have been

Wonderful ambiance and delicious food! Ronnie's is nestled among hundreds of oaks with little lights decorating the exterior on Commons Ford Road as you head towards the lake. We made reservations the day before as the website requested.
Several entrees are offered with the remaining courses being the same for all diners at one 7:00 p.m. seating. We chose our entrees when we made our reservation. Our fantastic meal was served in an intimate setting surrounded by oak trees as seen through the large glass windows.
Our 4-course meal:
*A unique and sumptuous pea soup with mint, peppered

Ronnie's is only open Thursday through Sunday. They only take reservations. They seat everyone at 7PM. The menu is fixed and posted on the Website, http://ronniesrealfood.com/. They only seat 40 people. The 4 course meal is a fixed $25.00 including tax and gratuity. He does not have a liquor license. You can BYOB and there is no corkage fee.
The food is usually very well prepared, we have been there at least 10 times over the last 2 years. Check the menu because you do not get choices.
Enjoy, I have no idea why I am sharing this gem. I need to get reservations too.
