Dr. Gen Ohkawa obtained his DDS degree from Stony Brook University's School of Dental Medicine where he was the recipient of the prestigious Esthetic Dentistry Award. He continued his training at the Weill Cornell Medical Center at New York Hospital of Queens. Upon completion of advanced training in dental implants and restorations he was awarded a Fellowship by the International College of Oral Implantologists (FICOI).

This modern take on braces features a system of clear aligner trays that are worn at all times with the exception of during meals and when brushing or flossing. The trays are custom fitted to the teeth, making them virtually unnoticeable when laughing, talking, and eating with other people.

Of all the dentists I've had, Dr. Ohkawa is by far my favorite. His explanations to both kids and adults are clear and easy to follow. He is always happy to answer any questions we have. Dr. Ohkawa has gone above and beyond any expectations with his accessibility and thoughtfulness on multiple occasions. The COVID safety precautions in the office are very thorough and have made me, a very cautious person, feel safe throughout the pandemic. The hygienists and office staff have always been really helpful and nice. I highly recommend this practice.

The staff were extremely helpful with any question I had. They do their best to provide a comfortable, stress-free environment. I have to admit, I've never had a great experience with receiving novacane, but the last time I was there, I didn't even feel the needle peirce my gum/lip. It was amazing. Also decided to get my teeth whitened. They knew exactly what to do, they knew how to answer my questions and concerns. Definitely recommend going here.

Dr. O and his friendly staff are warm, professional and courteous…..a winning combination! There is never a wait time to be seated and I have always had an “ouch less experience”. I was nervous going to a new dentist after my previous dentist of 40 years retired - however Dr.O did not skip a beat with his gentle, understanding and compassionate chair side manner. For a pain free dental experience, I would highly recommend Dr. Ohkawa and staff with 5 stars!

After moving and having our former dentist retire, we found ourselves needing a dentist. I wanted someone close by but my husband always prefers referrals for any new doctors, plumbers, etc. However, we kept driving by Dr. Ohkawa's office on our way to hike in the Catskills and I decided to give his office a try.
From the first phone call, I was met with staff who took the time to relate, listen, and laugh with me, putting me at ease right from the start.
Everyone I have met so far from this office, seems to really like their work...it just shows. And when I met Dr Ohkawa, the deal was sealed

I had my first visit with Dr. Ohkawa and I was really impressed. CJ was my dental hygienist and she was probably the best I ever had. Very thorough, very knowledgeable and very gentle. She was also very nice! Same goes with Dr. Ohkawa. Overall super impressed along with the facility and state of the art equipment.

Dr. Ohkawa is the best! He is kind, caring, gentle, and compassionate. All the staff are great! CJ is very thorough, friendly, and knowledgeable also. I don’t love going to the Dentist. I have had bad experiences is the past. But with the patience and care I am receiving at Hudson Valley Dentistry I am learning to not be afraid to go. I highly recommend them.

While visiting my kids, I found out that I needed a crown. He was kind enough to fit me in his schedule. However, several months later, I had painful crisis with the same tooth which revealed that it had not been done quite right. So I had to have the crown removed, a root canal done and a new crown replaced. I was told by 2 dentists in my area that there was a gap with the original crown.
I brought the issue to Dr. Ohkawa with xrays confirming the situation and asking him for reimbursement for ONLY my expenses (and submitted my receipts to him.) He refused to take responsibility.
