Beautiful refurbished building that is very clean and quiet in downtown area. The only thing I didn't like was the parking....we originally parked across the street in the MPR ramp so it was about a block walk with luggage back to the hotel. Also, if you plan to use the bar facilities, note that it is only open Wednesday - Saturday and in MN you can not buy alcohol anywhere really after 10 p.m. so plan accordingly if you want refreshments in your hotel after an event. :) Other than that, no complaints at all about the facility.

Fantastic place. The staff, from front desk to bar staff was friendly and welcoming. But it is the architecture that really makes this place stand out. Wonderful old space wonderfully remodeled and modernized. The hallways have a great old artwork. The place has lots of charms and, dare I say, wonderful blessings. Best place to stay in Downtown St Paul

This hotel was great from start to finish. We were greeted by a friendly staff person who provided excellent suggestions on where to go for dinner.
The room was charming and there was lots of little touches to the room that were perfect.
We thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary breakfast.
This will be my go to place when I visit the Minneapolis/St Paul area going forward.

Used the Celeste as home base for our daughter's wedding November 2021 - couldn't have been more pleased with EVERYTHING! A converted convent, every turn has character. Most of our wedding guests chose to stay here and all would say the Celeste was wonderful. Staff was super - both helpful and available, the bar was a welcome surprise, with excellent drinks and bartender. The old chapel has been converted to the breakfast room, full of stained glass and purple velvet. Rooms were clean, comfortable and affordable. Wedding guests took advantage of the central location to do walking tours

This St. Paul hotel, a Beaux Arts gem was formerly the first arts school in Minnesota. Rare combination of good provenance, visible history as well as whimsical touches throughout. The staff is outstanding. The bar serves “holy” cocktails and the former chapel serves a beautiful, inclusive in room cost, breakfast. The rooms reflect its historical past, yet with the updated conveniences you expect. We love this place!!

I really enjoyed my stay here. They upgraded my room for free, had a great continental breakfast, and the bar downstairs was great. Super unique hotel for a good price. Only downside is that there isn't designated parking so you either have to park on the street or pay $17 overnight in the parking deck next to the hotel. Major downside.

We live in St. Paul and decided to have a quick overnight escape in our own city and found this gem. We loved this hotel. It’s a great location within walking distance of a brewery, restaurants, and downtown. The hotel pays delightful (and cheeky) homage to the building’s roots as a convent. Our room was clean and cozy and we loved the decor. The staff was kind and professional. Nice breakfast included. The bar is gorgeous and is open to the public. We would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay here again.

It could've been great if the check-in experience were different. My husband and I decided to go on a little road trip, we live near the Chicagoland area.
I used the Hotels app and this was a top suggestion. Such a cute little hidden place. We needed a night and this was a very good choice!
Well... the check-in was a bit rocky. I didn't catch his name but the front desk person was a bit too "Minnesota Nice," (sarcasm). My husband and I had about a seven-hour drive, so we were very tired. The front desk guy instead of greeting me in a more welcoming manner said "uh you

Plaid wool skirts at an acceptable length and Sister Cecile Claire's Chemistry class-these are the beautiful memories evoked by Hotel Celeste St. Paul.
All this wrapped in a beautiful sparkling clean room with a bed that sleeps wonderfully! People are nice and breakfast was good!
Front desk and architectural restoration respectful and lovely!
The setting is nice and coffee houses and restaurants nearby.

We live now in Wisconsin but we did live in St Paul for a number of years; most of our kids and grandkids live in The Twin Cities now. We hate staying in the run-in-the-mill hotels. We found the Celeste online and booked it immediately. Three lovely nights. Clean, quite, historical, really nice breakfast, accessible, friendly and knowledgeable staff. We will be back...and soon.

This is such a great spot in downtown St. Paul! I've been told that this is former St. Paul conservatory, McNally, and a former music school taught by the Sisters of Carondolet!
I am so very happy, as a Saint Catherine's alum, that the original structure, stained glass windows, and spaces have been preserved (to the extent that they could).
We absolutely fell in love with the design, so much so that we almost wished that we could have had our ceremony here instead at the chapel and use their reception space, but it hadn't opened until two weeks after our date.

What a gem! We booked a suite with another couple to celebrate a day out in St. Paul and were instantly pleased with the Celeste as soon as we walked through the front door. It's very cozy and aesthetically pleasing with hardwood floors and exposed brick. Check-in was easy and fast. The room had comfy beds, a fun sitting area, and huge bathroom. We decided to grab a drink in the bar which has a couple of private areas (say hello to Robin if you have a chance to stop in). Our lack of a view was the only thing I could complain about, but not a big deal. Parking was not included in the deal.

This little hidden GEM was perfect!
I needed a night -
Celeste was perfect!
Beautiful Nunnery turned into a boutique Hotel.
I will start off by saying this place is beautiful and the room we stayed in was nothing less then perfect! Minus I wish the Frig would of been stocked.
That being said the bar was quaint and a nice cocktail, wine list. Wish there would of been more than 4 items to nibble on. Bartender was friendly.
That being said the women checking us in was not. Which completely sets the tone for the stay- which would of been a complete turn off, but I needed rest.
The bed was cloud

I had such a wonderful time staying at this hotel! It used to be a nunnery! And this is represented in the tasteful but eccentric art work placed throughout the building. It is located right next to the light rail and the MPR building. From my window, I had a clear view of a beautiful church, whose bells rang a few times throughout the day, and the MPR building which provided up to date weather on their marquee if that is interesting to you. The one downside to this is that the light rail does announce itself occasionally so if you do not do well with occasional sounds like that, you might want

My boyfriend and I visited the Twin Cities area to see the Caps-Wild game. We chose the Celeste because it seemed to be a unique hotel and is a short walk from the Xcel Energy Center. The hotel is a former convent, and there is as mix of old fashioned (the bar off the main entry, the windows in our room) and the modern (the glass-enclosed shower and the Echo Dot on the nightstand). There is also a light rail station steps from the hotel (although we didn't get a chance to use it, much to my disappointment). There is also free breakfast on the 2nd floor, which we did take advantage of. (I&apos

Beautiful hotel. Every part of our stay, from the initial phone call to checkout was lovely. The main floor is gorgeous. The rooms super clean and relaxing. So nice to have black out shades in a hotel! Staff recommended a good place to eat within walking distance, as parking is very limited unless you are in the ramps.
The made to order omelettes for breakfast in the chapel were the perfect finale to our stay.

Great cocktails and wine surrounded by beautiful historic vintage decor.
I had the Bassano 75 (Italian version of French 75). Let me tell you... this drink was very tasty but strong! Definitely snuck up on my friend and I!! Will definitely be back!
Knocked off one star because the bar seating area is rather small and lighting could have been a bit better to set a more inviting ambience.

This is a quick review. Our rule.. if there's a parking spot outside, we are meant to stop in!! Perfect! Spot right outside. The drinks are all Religious names (but funny!!!!) ... in fact I'm having Holy water right now!
The bar seats about 32.. happy hour is literally 1 hour. And I've been told...it gets packed!
AND... the have Prosecco on tap!
Hotel has 71 rooms, and I bet they are quaint and historic looking, as the bar has the haunting look of an F Scott Fitzgerald novel! Enjoy WA Frost? You'll love this! (And bartender says the drinks are strong and cheap

Although I haven't stayed at The Celeste or eaten in the bar/lounge, I was able to go on a tour of the hotel. Having worked in the building in the mid-1990s when the Minnesota Composers Forum had an office there, it was a trip down memory lane going through this restored and renovated hotel.
What once used to be a convent that had close to 100 nuns, this historic property has undergone many changes since it was built. What I enjoyed seeing was the many historic and original elements still a part of the hotel.
The antiques, beautiful restored paintings, and chandeliers all created a majestic

Fantastic new addition situated next to the Fitzgerald theatre. The restoration of this historic property is quite incredible. They have a great little bar with attached lounge areas to hang and enjoy yourself. I was lucky enough to snag a quick tour of the hotel to include the breathtaking Chapel Suite. What a gem! This would be the perfect spot for a staycation, if on town for biz, this would be a cool spot to checkout. I'm eager to return to explore the wine menu further. Great service and first impression, good work to the Celeste team!
