Had always used Bar-Kay jewelers but will not in the future. I had taken 2 rings to be repaired. These rings were my Aunt who passed away, It was a circle ring with small pearls and I was told it would take at least 3 weeks since they were backed up. It took a month! I had to call several times to say I wanted to pick up my rings, When I go to pick up my rings, it looked terrible! The pearls didn't match the others that were in the ring, Owner told me they were small pearls and he had a hard time matching them. I had a watch bought here. It was a gift to me. I was moved by its style. It felt right as an accessory into my wardrobe and profession.
It broke (the second hand locking up). The return instructions in the box said it needed a receipt from the place it was bought. I went back. They said "we don't carry receipts."
This disturbed me. The cheapest computers in the world can hold hordes of information, stored away, backed up, and easily available whenever and wherever you need it.
Furthermore, we live in a world where

The family employees here could not have been kinder or more helpful. they explained diamonds, flaws, cuts, etc. to our satisfaction. i have had so many compliments on my ring - and it was not a "stock" ring. they helped me in designing the ring. excellent service. the two girls and the guy John who seems to be the owner were all so knowledgeable about gems, stones, etc. i gave them 5 stars

What a coincidence that people are experiencing the same nonsense that I did when Bar-Kay was still at their Rising Sun location. I had been a loyal customer of their's since 2001. I had work done by them in the past and since I had no problem with the pieces at that time, I guess everything was friendly and peaceful. Just when I thought that I found a jeweler for life, I had just gotten a ring repaired and two days later the stone fell out. Michelle told me to bring it in and they would fix it, since by some miracle I still had the stone. Well they charged me $43.00! I was appalled!

Poor quality and customer service. My husband and I were married one year ago and we purchased my wedding band from here. Last night I noticed one of the diamonds in my wedding band was missing. I called Bar-Kay to ask if there was any type of warranty. I was cut off mid sentence and given a response of "No of course not we do not hold any warranty for wear and tear, maybe if it was two weeks but not a year." I then asked if there was any way of looking up my purchase since I now live out of state and my receipt is at my parents house in Philadelphia to possibly give a rough estimate

Had a ring sized there. The owner waited on me and I thought the price was too high for just sizing a ring. After measuring my finger size I asked how much it would cost. He yells over to one of the female employees " How much do we charge to size a ring"? He should know that since he is the one doing it in the back of his store. I felt I was being ripped off and that didn't sit well with me. I am not a fool! He figured he would ask her and get as much money out of me as he could. Not pleased at all!!!!

DON' T WASTE YOUR TIME!
I was having an engagement ring being made. My mother gave me a old diamond ring to have it made into an engagement. I was told by a friend that bar kay was reasonable and trustworthy jeweler. Boy were they wrong!
I was getting engaged at the end of February. The 26th to be exact. I took the old ring in on the 11th January. I pick out a setting and added sapphires. I told them that I needed the ring before the 26th of February. The owner told me that the ring would be done before the 26th of February. They also said that they would be going on vacation from the 17th

A stone fell off on my ring and put it in to get fixed. the ring is fixed, then two days later a stone fell off again. I have moved to ny at this point but came back anyways to see if i can get it fixed for free. the clerk chris says "it probably is not the same stone but we're going to do it for you anyways" I assume there will be free service. she tells me it will be done in two - three weeks. It takes a whole month before I call them to remind them the ring shoved in the back room somewhere. then they tell me it will be $65 because two more stones fell off during the process
