John J. Radel entered the funeral service in 1878 after helping a neighbor with the burial of an infant. He opened his first office with a small frame structure at 652 State Avenue in Lower Price Hill, replacing it with a new, larger building by 1903. John J. Radel purchased automotive equipment in 1912 to replace his horses and carriages, receiving national publicity as one of the first automobile-serviced funeral homes in the country.

This state-of-the-art 10,000 square foot facility, on over 2.5 acres, includes a large visitation room, a crematory with a private family viewing room, and a banquet facility for up to 100 people with catering available from simple hors d'oeuvres to full dinners. Your family is ensured full, private use of the funeral home for the service.
This is a small, family owned business. We dealt with all three employees following my mother's death. Everyone was considerate and respectful. They took care of everything we needed, and were a great comfort. They made sure everything was taken care of, allowing us to focus on us. The building is gorgeous.

Radel Funeral Home has handled the arrangements for two of my family members in the past. Most recently, Sam and Mickey were our points of contact in finalizing the arrangements for a close family member who had pre-planned their funeral with Radel many years ago. They were extremely helpful and professional as we worked through the final details. Making funeral arrangements is never an easy task, but Sam in particular was so helpful to us in that process, especially by him having an extensive list of contacts on which to draw as we were getting individuals to fulfill specific roles in connection

We recent lost our family pet Abby which was just like a family member. Mickey showed compassion for my feelings when I called and while we were there to make arrangements for our dog Abby to be cremated. Our dog passed away on Friday night and that following afternoon Mickey met us at their location to take our sweet Abby to have her cremated at no additional charge like other's charge. Since it was the weekend when we took her to Radel funeral home it took until a week from that Monday. I've waited longer for my husband's ashes to be returned at another funeral home.
