Founded in 1975, we are the longest established Montessori school in Ridgewood, NJ. We have been serving families of Ridgewood and the surrounding townships for more than three decades. Services
Our philosophy and programs are based on the pioneering work of Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952), Italy's first female physician. The Montessori method of education, first introduced more than 100 years ago, has grown into a worldwide educational movement. Dr. Montessori believed in and promoted the role of each child as an important, respected individual and contributing member of the community.
Our Montessori program is built on the "Six Pillars" which are designed to serve the needs of each child and their individual development. These pillars are integrated throughout the classroom and also in the Discovery Room, which is a separate science and cultural classroom for our students to visit and discover.
All our programs focus on creating educational experiences that are interesting, challenging and fun for each child, while striking the optimum balance between free expression and structured limits. Activities include a blend of independent work and group collaboration which help students develop the physical, cognitive, emotional and social skills to thrive.
We have a wonderful summer camp program which is a great blend of arts & crafts, outdoor fun, water play and special guests. Our unique programs have been praised by the community - our Garden Party theme was even featured in The Ridgewood News!
Our indoor facility is air conditioned for the children to cool off on hot days, a playground to enjoy climbing and sliding, paved play space for bike riding and chalk doodling and a grassy yard for pony rides, dinosaur digs, sprinklers, Slip 'n Slides and picnics!

When we visited and interviewed with the school, we very much enjoyed our experience. Then a month in, they changed our sons teacher with little notice. It was unfortunate, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt, and assumed it was not the schools fault. The school was not the least expensive school we visited, but we thought what they offered was worth the expense. When Covid changed the curriculum, from in person shared classroom experience, to online classes, we were again disappointed. I assumed as many friends and family experienced at other schools, that the school would either refund

We absolutely LOVE Ridgewood Montessori! I toured so many different preschools in the area before I found my son's school. I knew within moments that this was the one. My son is thriving here and they were so wonderfuly accommodating with his initial separation anxiety. We also love that he can stay an extra year in case we decide to delay his kindergarten start, as he has a late summer birthday.
