La Vie's story began in 1980 at Fuller Theological Seminary (FTS) in Pasadena, when Dr. Walter Becker, a professor in the Marriage and Family training program, shared his dream of founding a Christian counseling center anchored in this philosophy.Even before that, Walter and his wife, Fran, had been exploring the concept of forming a Christian community where the Beckers, Mark Baker, Dick and Nancy Savidge, would live together in a large home.
La Vie Counseling Center is a non-profit corporation established to serve the community by providing counseling, education, and training. La Vie seeks to offer the best from the psychological sciences in an effort to treat the whole person: body, mind, spirit, and relationships.

While we welcome clients of all faith backgrounds and practices, we are uniquely qualified to offer Christian clients a sophisticated integration of spiritual and emotional issues. We train both pre- and post-doctoral Psychological Assistants, MFTs and Professional Counselors at both the practicum (pre-degree or trainee) and registered intern/associate level.

Over the years, I've had some individual and marital counseling. Recently, I was dealing with some new unexpected issues and sought out counseling, but I felt the La Vie counselor provided the least helpful counseling session I've ever received. I felt there was no input, insight, or even reflective or empathetic listening from the counselor. It made me realize (and appreciate) that previously I've had some really skilled counselors and it made it obvious this was NOT a good fit.

The counselor seemed inexperienced, full of cliches, and it felt like the counselor was going from

This office is very clean and professional. I seen Jesse Morris such a kind and very understanding person. I would highly recommend this place for individual or family therapy.

I honestly have always felt that Therapy was for "those people" that "needed" it. Never did I feel I was someone who could benefit from it, and I was incredibly wrong. Weekly my heart feels seen and heard, my self identity built stronger and stronger brick by brick, and the weight of past griefs slowly and delicately laid down one at a time.

Take your time when picking a therapist, because relationship is so important. You want to feel safe, cared for, and like you can "vibe" with whoever is going to listen to your heaviest concerns. I found that, and I know

Ok this sadly is about Jennifer. I am not a fan of talking to strangers regarding my personal life. I took a risk, made an appt. For me trust was a huge thing. I initially trusted her at first.

Towards the end before I left she said & I quote, " your tears outside therapy are fake." My thought was what the hell.

Just because I don't cry in front of my therapist doesn't make me fake. There's not a fake bone in my body.

This is to the owner, warn Jennifer that just because she graduated from a Christian college & claims to be a Christian does not allow her to

To start off and be fair to the other counselors in this office - we only have experience with one of the counselors here and he is dreadful. If Yelp provided an opportunity to gives "Zero" stars, I'd do just that in this particular case.

We saw our counselor for 3-4 months on a weekly basis. Looking back, we should have realized sooner what a waste of time, money and energy he ended up being.

Neither of us are well-versed in the areas of therapy but we were feeling stagnant in our relationship and thought it might be a good idea to see a "professional" upon a recommendation

I put a lot of trust and was broken after losing my dad, and both Grandma's this year (past month). I was told by Jennifer that I was too much and a burden. I will never seek help or trust again. Instead, I'll take the easy way out since she told me no there cared and I had no worth. I was starting to make progress and then as soon as both my grandma's passed in the same month, it got to hard for her and it left me with another loss and no one to reach out to. After being told I was hated, I just started seeing how much of a burden I really am to life. I tested and was hurt. Now

Before ya'll think I've gone bonkers and needed help (well, I suppose that's okay too) - our pastor recommended this place for our pre-marital counseling.

Our counselor was Joanne Weidman - and she's an interesting breed of counselor because she works with a lot of entertainment folks. So, it's never a dull moment with her.

Very amiable lady and extremely insightful. My fiance and I would be speaking and she'd pick up on our quirks and interactions extremely quickly (I'd completely pass out if all I did was talk).

What I loved the best was that she was able
