We apologize for the inconvenience. Formerly known as Pinole Aikido, we here at WCA have been teaching Aikido since 1985. We are a non-profit organization and use Aikido to promote non-violent conflict resolution. Our chief instructor, Louis Decena has been practicing Aikido on and off since 1963 and started teaching upon opening Pinole Aikido in 1985.

Aikido is a Japanese martial art founded by Morihei Ueshiba (sometimes referred to as "O Sensei") who created a martial art that is purely defensive in nature. An attack is redirected in a controlled manner which leads to a pin or a throw. The object is not to injure an attacker, but to redirect the mind as well as the body towards peaceful solutions to conflict.

Louis Decena Sensei is the chief instructor of West County Aikido. He was first introduced to Aikido in 1963 when he took some classes from Yamada Sensei while stationed in Japan. He was also fortunate enough to be instructed by O Sensei himself at Hombu Dojo. Kobayashi Sensei, Kanai Sensei, and Imaizumi Sensei were also among his teachers.
West County Aikido, is a relaxed and friendly place to practice. Adults learn in a supportive environment from dynamic and creative teachers. They teach you how to achieve the flexibility and relaxation necessary for good technique. In mixed practice all levels and ages have the opportunity to practice together.
Martial Arts can be benificial for everyone, regardless of any physical or mental limitaions one may have. Our Friday class is focused on teaching the fundamentals of aikido to some who may not be able to keep pace in a regular class setting. Focus will be on teaching rolling, focus, balance, cordination, basic self defense and of course having a good time.
