Taking psychotherapy beyond the office setting into movement-based therapeutic experiences. Traditionally, mental health issues are treated by a combination of medication and psychotherapy. At Alliance Experiential Counseling, we enhance results by engaging our clients in physical activities, such as hiking, rock climbing, walking, biking, fishing, and yoga to complement traditional treatment methods.
Experiential therapy provides an opportunity for clients who may be resistant to opening up and sharing in a clinical setting to feel more comfortable talking and sharing while they are in motion. Acknowledging the powerful connection between the mind and body, our activities-based program improves overall wellness not only by talking, but by doing.

At Alliance Experiential Counseling we believe in the power of the therapeutic alliance. This equates to a meaningful therapeutic partnership based on trust and respect. This alliance is cultivated through movement-based experiences that complement traditional talk therapy sessions and allow for a deeper engagement through action.
We don't just believe, we know a strong alliance between client and therapist supports the positive outcome of therapy. Studies have shown that quality of therapeutic alliance is directly correlated with therapeutic outcomes. We believe that the strength of the therapeutic bond is the foundation upon which we build, so we offer a client-centered and strengths-based approach to meet you where you are and join with you in the journey forward.
Alliance Experiential Counseling: Life-enriching concepts may be taught in therapy sessions, but engaging the body through movement and wellness activates them. Some examples of the activities we may do together are walking outdoors, hiking, rock climbing, activities/games that challenge us, biking, fishing, and more.
When a client struggles with anxiety, he or she experiences an array of symptoms that are triggered by the flight or fight response. When encountering a stressor-situations, things, places, or people that trigger the fear response-the body's sympathetic nervous system instantly begins producing stress hormones, such as cortisol and adrenaline.
Autism spectrum disorder is a disorder of an individual's communication skills, which features a diverse range of levels of functioning. In many cases, autism can diagnosed in early childhood, typically around age three. However, in many cases autism can go undetected well into teenage years or even early adulthood.

Blake is a skilled, passionate, and thoughtful therapist. He incorporates movement (rock climbing, hiking, etc) into his work as it is a helpful way for his clients to process their thoughts and feelings more easily. He is also highly collaborative with fellow therapists in the community which is beneficial to his own growth and development as a therapist and which will serve his clients well.
