Manual therapy has a long history within the profession of physical therapy and physical therapists have greatly contributed to the current diversity in manual therapy approaches and techniques.

Mechanical explanations were historically used to explain the mechanisms by which manual therapy interventions worked, new research reveals intricate neurophysiologic mechanisms are also at play and the beneficial psychological effects of providing hands-on examination and intervention should not be ignored.
The road to recovery doesn't have to wait until after surgery. We at Ashburn Physical Therapy are effectively able to diagnosis your injury, give the appropriate treatment tailored to the diagnosis, and get you back to what you love. In most cases, surgical intervention can be avoided by utilizing skilled physical therapy.
The Kinesio Taping Method is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body's natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body's range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting.
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.
Fall prevention may not seem like a lively topic, but it's important. As you get older, physical changes and health conditions - and sometimes the medications used to treat those conditions - make falls more likely. In fact, falls are a leading cause of injury among older adults. Still, fear of falling doesn't need to rule your life.

I went to Ashburn Physical Therapy to treat neck pain. The therapist proposed several exercises to strengthen the neck and to diminish the pain; we also used electric stimulation and a traction machine, which slowly stretches the neck. Over several session, the neck pain decreased considerably.

The practice is very clean and does a great job tailoring the exercises to focus on what you feel your body needs vs placing you in a generic box.

I was referred for a broken finger. I was very satisfied with the multiple treatments that were performed including exercises, massaging, stretching, STIM, and ultrasound. Additionally, the practice was very accommodating of the COVID restrictions (only one patient in the office at a time), which made me feel more comfortable. Would highly recommend!
