Greenwood Cemetery
Greenwood Cemetery Association is rich in history and family heritage. Back in 1777, George Washington marched his troops through its land on his way to the Battle of Trenton. Originally the site of the Anderson farm, Greenwood Cemetery Association was founded in 1874.

It was first developed as a monument cemetery; however, the southeast portion was subsequently designated as the Garden of Memories, where only flush bronze memorials may be installed. The cemetery's five public mausoleums offer the protection and comfort of above-ground burial. The Mercer County Veterans section of Greenwood Cemetery is the first in U.S. history to include above-ground mausoleum crypts for veterans only.
Services
At Greenwood Cemetery, we have built our reputation one family at a time. We value your trust, so we pledge to provide you with the peace of mind that comes from working with representatives who understand the challenges of end-of-life planning. We assist you with care and compassion in making these decisions, whether you are planning for the future or need to make immediate arrangements.
The loss of someone you love is never easy. It is important for family and friends to have the opportunity to celebrate the life and memories of their loved one. If you wish to share a personal expression in remembrance of someone who has passed, please go to their respective tribute page to leave a message.
The loss of a loved one is never easy. With the combined experience of several hundred years of cemetery service in the profession, we know firsthand how difficult making cemetery arrangements can be. Undeniably, discussing cemetery and funeral arrangements in advance, and advising family members of your wishes, lessens the burden of questions and making decisions at the time of immediate need.
Meaningful memorialization of a loved one's passing can transform, heal, and comfort us. It highlights our loved ones' sacrifices, reminds us of the things that they value, and inspires us with their life stories. Have the Talk of a Lifetime, a program created by The Funeral and Memorial Information Council, was designed to help families have meaningful conversations about the things that matter most in their lives.
We encourage you to get in touch with a cemetery in addition to a funeral home or a mortuary. We can help you arrange and plan for all the details following a funeral service. Pre-planning and pre-payment will protect you from the rising cost of prices, and it will not be a financial burden on your loved ones.

BROOKLYN LADIES WHO WALKABOUT:
My walking buddy Renée and I walked about the Greenwood Cemetery built in 1838..It took approximately 1.5 hours to get to from each of our starting points.. We met up in downtown Brooklyn across from the Barclay Center..Greenwood Cemetery is a landmark, with one of my favorite artist spending eternity there (Jean Michel Basquiat). It was absolutely a beautiful and scenic walking trail.
Green-Wood Cemetery is a 478-acre (193 ha) cemetery in the western portion of Brooklyn, New York City. The cemetery is located between South Slope/Greenwood Heights, Park Slope,

Kelly was fantastic to work with. My Mom passed away 4/20/20 and we weren't able to hold a service for her until 8/26/21. Kelly was compassionate and understanding and so helpful. Thank you for making a difficult situation easier for my sister and me. Everyone at Greenwood Cemetery was wonderful.

These effing pirates want to tack on an additional fee for internment of my mother's ashes as well as my father's even though My world war II veteran father prearranged for this entire ceremony they're going to charge opening and closing fee twice and an embodiment fee oh they're so happy to give me a 75% discount I think that's a good deal for me and I'm going to be happy with that. Can't believe the gall of this I'm sure that my father did not misunderstand this hidden charges hidden fees deceptiveness in a time like this It's just outrageous

My grandmother recently passed away at the end of January. She lived in NJ until she was in her early 80’s and when she moved to Florida she was very concerned that flowers wouldn’t be left at her mother and grandmothers grave after she left. She would always place flowers for the holidays and any other special occasions. My aunt agreed to help and took over the duty of placing flowers for her. Since this is the first Mother’s Day without her I did not plan properly and didn’t think to order flowers in advance and have them placed (I moved to Texas so I am unable to place them myself).

In utter shock at how there is NO maintenance and upkeep to the graves! As I stand here looking at the veteran graves with flags at their nameplates, I literally had to “unbury” another 7 veterans who did not get flags as their nameplates were completely grown over!! What a disgrace to those who have served their country and to those people who pay absorbent cemetery fees!
