Brothers Young Il Kong and Young Bo Kong founded Young Brothers Tae Kwon-Do Associaties in 1968 and opened the first schools in Pennsylvania. As their students learned and advanced, some of their higher ranking students eventually spread throughout the United States to open schools of their own. The Young Brothers, both 9th Degree Black Belts, studied Tae Kwon-Do in Korea and have trained in the martial art for over 50 years.
At Young Brothers Tae Kwon-Do, we seek to instill self-discipline and strength of character in each of our students. Each class is taught with a purpose; to follow the tenets of Tae Kwon-Do with the same professionalism and tradition that Master McCloskey began his career with as a student of Tae Kwon-Do over 35 years ago.
Our Tots Program is oriented toward careful instruction for children ages 5 - 6. The Tots curriculum focuses on introducing and mastering techniques in a fun, safe, and productive environment. Patterns are taught and the foundation is laid for the introduction of future skills. Instructors work with students on a personal level to maximize the benefits.
Tae Kwon-Do is a martial art that originated from Korea. Its roots can be traced back to more than 2000 years ago during Korea's dynamstic period. In Korean, tae means to kick or strike with the foot; kwon means "fist or to strike with the hand"; and do means "way." In this manner, Tae Kwon-Do is can be loosely translated as "the way of the foot and hand."
The White Belt curriculum entails instruction of basic Taekwondo in a positive learning environment. The class is broken down into easy to understand segments focusing on rudimentary skills. For example, the beginning of class involves a warm up with simple exercises, jogging, and stretches. The masters and assistant instructors devote the remainder of the class to personal attention.

I trained with the owner David McCloskey for many years. From my experience with him as a teacher and a boss, I would not hesitate to recommend this school. If you are familiar with the principles of tae kwon do, it is not hard to notice that this school and the owner embody these characteristics.

We are so happy to have discovered Young Brothers. Our 5 year olds and family immediately took to the instructors and Master's style of teaching and it is so fun to see our boy's excitement for the art and their progression week by week. Its clear they are continually learning new motor patterns and skills as well as respect, self-confidence and etiquette with each class, all while having fun. We indeed recommend Young Brothers to others.

I think the difference for me when comparing taekwondo places for my boys vs other places is the owner, Master McCloskey. We visited several places in Cypress. I liked Master McCloskey’s friendliness and how flexible he was with my schedule. We have been going for almost 2 years and my kids really enjoy their classes. They feel pride when they earn a belt. I’m very pleased.

Our experience here has been incredible! It's great watching my son progress in skill and grow in character here, and he loves his instructors, as do we. I really appreciate that they take the time to work with him individually. I totally recommend this facility!

My 9 yr old son loves it and looks forward to attending the classes almost every day. The teachers are all so talented yet grounded, encouraging and easy to talk to. The best thing is there are mutiple time slots in a day that one can attend so it’s easier for different days of the week if the child has another activity at a set time. We feel we made a good choice and we are very happy with the entire team of young brothers taekwondo.

Master McCloskey, Mr. Claire, the staff and students at Young Brothers were very welcoming for our nine-year-old son Kaiden. The workout area was large and very clean. After spending 10 minutes of private time preparing Kaiden for his first class, Master McCloskey and his staff ran an exciting and engaging workout. The class of twelve stayed busy with a workout that not only worked on physical development, but also teaches personal character development.
As a former teacher, I would say that Young Brothers Taekwondo at Cypress Creek Lakes/Bridgeland is a top notch activity for kids.

Don't ever go to an event hosted by them unless you are from there. Judges were very biased to the local team.
He beat the kid in the finals hands down but since the referee were his coaches, he lost. Everyone around us, complete strangers, were as confused as we were.

This is the best place ever! Master David McClosky is very professional and great at what he does. Mr. Caire and all the instructors are well prepared and care about the kids and their families. Our youngest child fell in love with TKD since the first say. My husband and I are looking forward to get enrolled in the family class as well.

It is a very good program for the kids, young adults and adults. This martial arts program will teach people self-respect and well as respecting the others. This is a very traditional/structured program even though the instructors are very friendly and courteous. I strongly recommend this program to everyone who's willing to learn.
