Services
Construction on our Grain Valley facility began in the spring of 1996. F.M. "Pete" & Barbara Royer established this facility in order to more adequately serve those in the growing town of Grain Valley. The 6500 square foot building is located on the north side of AA Highway one mile west of Buckner-Tarsney Road in Grain Valley.
In September of 2008, the Royer's purchased a 75-year-old funeral home at the corner of 17th & Walnut in Blue Springs. This building had been vacated by the previous funeral service several years prior, so it became the third facility to be operated by Royer's. Our first Office Manager/Funeral Director there was Scott L. Hays.
Royer's New Salem Funeral Home, Cemetery, & Monument Company was established in 1989 by Martin Shrout and Neil Galbraith. The Royer's acquired it in 2013 and continue in the tradition of serving families in their time of need, now including those in the Independence area. New Salem is located on Blue Mills Road just off 24 Highway, with Salem Baptist Church to the south and Blue Hills Elementary School to the north.
Ancestors of the Royer family have lived in eastern Jackson County, Missouri since 1870, and because of this, Kenneth Royer wanted to help keep the area economy going. He was instrumental in establishing several local businesses including a hardware store, a grocery store, a doctor's office, a nursing home, a community center, and a senior center.

Royer Funeral Home was so kind during this shocking and heartbreaking time in me and my families life. We lost my 37 year old brother expectantly. It was difficult to think, let alone deal with all the details that come along with losing someone. Royer Funeral home worked with me, answered my questions and guided me through all the steps. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I truly appreciate the empathy and understanding you showed us during this time.

Our experience with New Salem funeral home was great. The staff were very polite, personable, considerate, patient with our many questions, and took alot of burden from our family for funeral planning. It was very reasonably priced. They were very organized with the service and the burial later. The staff provided us with everything after the funeral (cards, registry, pens, thank you cards, etc).

Unfortunately I've had to use their services 2 times within the last 4 years. First my mother then this week my younger brother. They are totally professional, let us make the decisions we wanted, supported is totally us. Explained every question we had. We had both cremated and even though it will be extremely cold tomorrow they supported or decision as a family to walk my brother on his final journey to his final resting place near our mom. They are also providing a car for the ones needing a ride. The non traditional music we chose was not a problem either. If ever needed again, which I pray
