He is gentle, kind, and his office is an ivy covered COTTAGE. I have been going to him for about 5 years now and am 100% satisfied with all the work I've had done by him and his associates at the practice. Dr Nykaza works with you to educate you about dental health and develops a treatment plan that includes preventative measures to preserve your teeth.
At our Evanston general dentistry office, Dr. Dan Nykaza has been providing comprehensive dental services to the community since 1986. General dentistry is a broad term that covers anything from the analysis and diagnosis of mild dental diseases, to the prevention and therapy of most dental conditions.
Four out of five people have periodontal disease and don't know it! Most people are not aware of it because the disease is usually painless in the early stages. Not only is it the number one reason for tooth loss, research suggests that there may be a link between periodontal disease and other diseases such as, stroke, bacterial pneumonia, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and increased risk during pregnancy.
Periodontal disease is diagnosed by your dentist or dental hygienist during a periodontal examination. This type of exam should always be part of your regular dental check-up. A periodontal probe (small dental instrument) is gently used to measure the sulcus (pocket or space) between the tooth and the gums.

This is the best team of people. Perfectionism the whole way no matter what you’re having done.
Dr. Dan is literally the nicest dentist/person you could meet. He’s SO talented and well respected he could easily have an ego or attitude but like, no sign of that AT ALL. He’s patient, kind, understanding, listens to you and fun to be around. Same goes for the staff.
The office itself feels like you’re in somebody’s charming home in the country.
I don’t give reviews for just anyone, they are special!

Dr. Nykaza recently replaced a crown for me. When I got back home and the numbness from the local anesthetic began to wear off, I waited for the discomfort and/or soreness to start. And I waited. And I waited. After a couple of hours I realized that there wasn't going to be any. This is the first time in my life that I've had a filling or crown replacement and had literally no residual pain or discomfort. Wow is all I can say.

This dentist is only good for fillings. If you need a crown, seek another dentist. He likes to showcase expensive equipment but fancy equipment is good in addition to quality and experience, not instead of it. He talks you into costly treatments that aren't needed, and, when you refuse, looses interest in your teeth altogether. Unless it's something really minor, I recommend to stay away.
