The Flower Flat produces events focused on food and flowers. We used to operate out of a brick-and-mortar location in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, but now bring our cozy, plant-filled sensibility to you. We host baby and bridal showers, birthday parties, anniversary celebrations, team outings, drawing nights and more. Dreaming of a secret garden party? We'll throw it. Search our calendar for a list of public events and dinners, or send us an email to start planning your private gathering.

Had the absolute worst experience. We hosted my sister’a baby shower here and the service was the worst I’ve ever had at an establishment. The shower was at 3 and we were told by the owner that we could come at 2:45 to set up. We showed up at that time and the two waitresses working acted like they had no idea why we were there, told us we could only set up a little part of the store because they were not ready and had an AWFUL attitude. Throughout the rest of the shower, their attitude did not change. Example, when we politely asked for some more water (because there were about 30 people and

Adorable and cozy cafe with freshly prepared grub. Breakfast and lunch menu is perfect. Service is what it is for one person running the shop, but if you're in a rush there's no reason to come here. There's plenty of atmosphere, charm and personality to absorb while you wait. Black bean hummus was so tasty!

This one was really disappointing, because I wanted it to be great. I love the idea and philosophy behind this place. It's a cozy little spot, almost a garden apartment, with a small cafe on the left side and a flower shop on the right. They have one cashier / server, and one cook. The menu is a single piece of paper with about 5-10 different items on it. There are about four selections for breakfast.
In a way, it's my ideal restaurant concept. Cozy and intimate, minimal in menu and scope, but the execution just is not there.
The decor is 'eclectic', in a mismatched cutesy kinda way. They have

One of my favorite places in the neighborhood - it wouldn’t be home without the Flower Flat. It’s the best place I know in the city to wake up on a weekend morning and take stock while you wake up over strong coffee and great brunch. Make sure you aren’t in a hurry - it’s a small family operation with one chef, but I’ve always loved how that makes me take my time.

I can't say enough good things about the flower flat. It has a very personal and cozy atmosphere, and the service is always so friendly. The food reminds me of home cooked meals, if mom was a professional chef. The chef always uses so many interesting flavor combinations. This is one of my favorite places in the neighborhood.

This is the definition of a neighborhood spot. When I grew up in the area it was a flower shop. Gradually they started serving food and a few years ago they transitioned fully into a restaurant. There's usually a single kind waitress for brunch, and the food is great. Limited menu, which is totally fine with me. Definitely suggest getting coffee - hot coffee comes with a personal French Press, and iced coffee comes in a little mason jar.

Flower Flat has a strong following, and you can tell it is a product of love, just not really my cup of tea. They do however seem to host a lot of private events that look great!
Its a really small garden unit just west of Broadway. Tables and chairs are all mismatched and the room is filled, almost to the point of cluttered, with different terrariums, knickknacks and art for sale.
There is one chef and one server, so as you can assume its not a place to go if you're in a hurry.
I got the BLT $7.50 - It was fresh and good. The seasoning in addition to the bacon made it a bit salty for my taste

I give this a 5 for atmosphere and a 2 for food. I had really high hopes for this place. The turquoise door and window frames caught my attention the first time I drove by. I took my mom, who was visiting from out of town, for breakfast on a Sunday. The menu is very limited with only 3 options for breakfast. I read a review that said "best brunch place in Chicago" so I expected to have more than waffles, eggs, and a breakfast sandwich to choose from. I got scrambled eggs with fruit, potatoes, toast and a side of bacon. The eggs were a bit watery and everything was fine, but nothing spectacular
