Services
Below you will find a comprehensive description of Yasmin's acupuncture and Oriental medicine services. Acupuncture involves the gentle insertion of very thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body to produce powerful therapeutic effects. According to traditional Chinese medicine, energy called Qi (pronounced "chee") flows through 14 main meridians in the body.
Here you'll find answers to the most common questions asked about acupuncture and Oriental medicine. Most people's experience with needles involve hypodermic needles used at doctor's offices to give shots or draw blood. Those needles are much thicker and have a hollow center like a straw. Acupuncture needles are much thinner and solid, more like a cat whisker or human hair.
Allergic rhinitis, or hay fever, is caused by an overreaction of the immune system to something in the environment. Seasonal allergies are triggered by the pollens of trees, grass, or weeds. Perennial allergies might be triggered by dust mites, mold, or animal dander. Exposure to the allergen causes symptoms such as itchy, watering eyes, sneezing, runny nose and sinus congestion.
Acupuncture can provide powerful relief from headaches and migraines without the side-effects of many over-the-counter and prescription medications.
After determining the typical location (around temples, behind eyes, forehead, back of head, etc), quality of pain (dull, distending, sharp/stabbing, heavy), what makes it better or worse (activity or rest, time of day, weather, food, menstruation, etc.) and getting a better idea of your unique body constitution, we can help determine the "root" cause of your headaches and come up with an appropriate treatment plan.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture have effectively been used in the treatment of infertility for thousands of years. Whether you are trying to get pregnant naturally or are wanting to increase the effectiveness of Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) such as IVF or IUI, incorporating TCM can be very helpful.
