Kansas born and raised, Dr. Dorton's passion for the health, care and wellbeing of animals is deep-seeded. His dream was well on its way when in 1982 he graduated from Kansas State University near the top of his veterinary medicine class. Shortly after graduation, he joined the practice of fellow K-State graduate, Stephen B. Hodes, in Mine Hill, NJ before acquiring the [then] Scranton Dog and Cat Hospital in 1984.

We will also go over diet, preventative medicine, and exercise to ensure that your pet is as healthy as possible.

Nice vet and reasonable prices, however, in the years I've been with him he's never been able to see my dog when they are sick which is kind of the point of the vet. You need to wait over a month or more for a sick visit (if they will even schedule it). The last time I called when my dog was limping I was told sorry we aren't making sick visits at this time, only routine. And to call another vet or if its an emergency contact the animal hospital by Clarks Summit. If your pet is sick and needs an xray or blood work within the next week they pretty much tell you to go somewhere else which defeats

A true superstar team of animal care experts! They provided the best care for our boy, Charlie, until he passed in 2019; always treated him like one of their own. We eventually adopted a senior dog after Charlie passed, but it was just too emotionally painful to return to Scranton Animal Hospital. Over a period of multiple visits with the new vet we realized our dog wasn't receiving the ethical and quality care that he should, and we have since made our way back to Scranton Animal Hospital. It was tough to walk through the doors for the first time since Charlie's visits, however we knew it was
