In 1965, local farmers Jim and Betty Held with their four young children along, bought and moved into the remnants of the original winery and began the long restoration of the dis-repaired old-world buildings and vaulted underground cellars. The business is now in the hands of the next generation, managed by son Jon Held and his wife, Karen.

Favorite winery so far! Not only was the wine phenomenal, we learned so much at the wine tasting. We were a big group, and while it was busy, we didn't have any issues with finding a large enough table or all being able to attend the same tasting. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Hermann!

When it comes to Hermann wineries, I think everyone knows Stone Hill. Wine is *good* for Missouri, lots of options. But DANG it's expensive to taste here! Plus you always have to wait for your turn.
It's nice to come during the pandemic, and be outside. They usually have a band on weekends which is fun, some things to snack on.
I think it's a spot everyone should go once, it has a fun layout, beautiful views, and you're right in the middle of the winery.

For my Louisville, KY people - this is the Huber's of Missouri (without the farm). I stopped here on my way home from vacation to break up the drive. Right off the bat, it was a completely overwhelming. There was a line to have your IDs checked before you went in to the shop. At the tasting area, you had to check in, pay and receive a time. As others said, the tasting was $12 and it did include the glass.
There were several wines that I liked and I did take home several bottles. Because it was so busy, the tasting rooms were on 20 minute increments. So you kind of got the tasting and a little

Two things important to me when I go to a winery, the wine and view. The wine was great. If you willing to sit in the sun there was a pretty good spot, see pictures. But from the shade there was nothing to see felt boxed in. If I can't see something might as well drink it at home. Awesome store for shopping all the usual stuff. Priced as you'd expect for tourist.

The food in the restaurant was good. Service was excellent. Bought 2 bottleswine in store 2017 Norton at $27 a bottle. Went to save a lot and it was 16.00. Will never buy stone again. The peach and moscato were $17 at the gift shop. Were $8.99 at save a lot. We got screwed at the winery. And save a lot said customers said it happened all the time.

This place is amazing. Best wines, best atmosphere, and best people! We had a very nice lunch at the Vintage restaurant I recommend the soft pretzels with spicy cheese dipping sauce.
We did a VIP wine tasting it was $15 instead of the $12 for the regular tasting. OMG it was worth it. Our host, Chris, was phenomenal! He knew so much about the wines, the process, and seemed to really enjoy what he was doing. My recommendation would be to pony up the extra $3, and do the VIP. And ask if Chris is on duty, it is well worth it.
The tour was short, sweet, and free. They run four per day spaced out just

Beautiful grounds that sit up in a hill. There are picnics outside overlooking some vines that offer a nice place to enjoy a bottle of wine. Some snacks are available inside and while not inexpensive they are good.
Wine: for dry wine drinkers, we were pleasantly surprised by the Vidal Blanc. For under 10$ a bottle it's a steal for a light, easy drinking wine. The Cross J Norton is what once convinced me to appreciate and love a good Norton. Try it here! These are not vina viniferous grapes but if you go into tasting MO wines not expecting those with a willingness to expand your palate, you

Great place for a tasting and shopping their retail. They are more pricy then some of the other options but still totally reasonable, you get a wine glass and the servers are usually fun and very knowledgeable! They have a beautiful location with a restaurant right on site. Be aware the restaurant closes in the off season. Still fun and I recommend!

Very beautiful place. We did the wine flight and enjoyed trying all of them. They also had live music which is a definite plus! The only thing I’m confused about is why Hermann wineries close at 5pm on weekends??? I’d think being a Saturday they’d at least stay open until sunset. Unfortunately we didn’t arrive until 4:30...so our visit was short. We did have dinner at The Vintage which Id rate at 3 stars due to the food. Service was friendly. We had the baked Brie (loved) and the Schweineschnitzel (it was just okay) I would think they’d at least offer a charcuterie board being at a winery

TL:DR - not impressed at all with their wines. The grounds are beautiful with seating spread out. They do a better job than the other wineries in the area in terms of covid precautions. Tasting is on the high end at $12. Wines can be found cheaper at the local save-a-lot.

I never know why I keep coming back to Stone Hill. I feel like it's because it's really popular? Buy maybe I only think their popular because they have a ton of ads? Cause the wine is not great. Granted people's wine preferences differ greatly, I just did not and have

We loved our visit to Stone Hill! This was my first time to Hermann and this was definitely the place to go in our limited time there.
We got there and immediately went on an amazing tour of the cellars and the vineyard. We spent probably a good 45 minutes tasting at the end of the tour. We loved so many of the wines. We loved the Traminette and if I remember correctly, the Chambourcin. We bought ourselves some wine glasses and a couple of bottles and had ourselves a night!
The tour guide was very friendly and the winery itself was pretty extraordinary. I genuinely have no complaints and recommend

Our server, Courtney, absolutely made our wine tasting experience. Her expertise and lighthearted demeanor taught us newbie wine drinkers a thing or two. The wine is as expected for Missouri wines, I will say the selection at Stone Hill is much more expansive than others in the area. This place is huge with so many indoor and outdoor places to sit. We didn't get a chance to take the cellar tour this time around, but on the hour there is a free tour. Next time!

First off, I am not a wine connoisseur by any means. All I know is that I like my wine dry, dark, and deep red. And if it's not dry red, I'll take a sweet white wine or port with snacks.
My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by their restaurant! They serve German food and usual American lunch food. We got a combo platter in order to try a bit of everything. The schnitzel was pretty tasty. The potato pancakes are thicker than latkes and served with chunky apple sauce. It's not as crispy as latkes but still very delicious. For drinks you can order by glass, by bottle, or get

This is a pretty winery. We made the mistake of walking here from our guest cottage. I would not recommend walking from downtown Hermann because it is a trek up the hill, but that was our mistake! The regular tasting is $5 to try 6 wines, which is very reasonable. The wines are good, not my favorite though. The tasting room was crowded so the tasting was a bit rushed, even though the man pouring the wine was very friendly. My favorite thing here are the wine slushees, which were very refreshing on a hot summer day! There were several tables in the shade outside and live music playing. Overall a

On a recommendation from friends, we spent an afternoon here. The tastings were $5 for 6 and includes a tour of the outside and cellars.
We arrived just as the tour was starting so we went with that first and it was very informative and interesting learning some basic history of Hermann wine country, use of the property during prohibition and their return into the Missouri wine market. On the tour, they also have several vintage barrels and equipment.
Our tasting afterwards was super fun and knowledgeable with Brittany. We split 2 tastings initially and then decided to split a 3rd to try them

I don't drink wine but I brought my husband here for some wine tasting and dinner. He loved the wines so much that we brought home 6 bottles! We took the free tour through the cellars and it was very interesting and informative. Jani (I hope I got that right) was our guide and I really enjoyed the history she shared with us, it was the best wine tour we have ever had. The cellars were amazing! Then we went into the barn for dinner and it did NOT disappoint! You can sit in a horse stall and order authentic German food here. The staff were friendly and kept our glasses full. The food came out pretty

First winery visit in MO! Lots of space for parking. The staff greeted us as soon as we walked in. Wine tastings you pay for but she only gave us a little to taste. Probably the least amount I've ever had during a tasting. The lady doing the tasting also didn't talk much about the wines. Was not super impressed.
After the tasting we walked around the little shop tables they had for the derby day spring festivities. It was pretty cute on the inside. After was the wine tour. The Woman who was giving the tour was very knowledgeable and seemed pretty excited about the winery. Being able

The tour is so awesome here! It's free which makes it even better, but the history lesson was my favorite part of the whole thing.
Steve was the tour guide on Monday. He gave great history of the town of Hermann as well as the winery. It was most enjoyable just listening to him talk.
The tour lasts about 30 minutes and takes you through the start of the winery and it's impact on the region, prohibition era, and brings you to the current day. The Norton grape vines are so nice to look at and the cellar is so awesomely cool!
If you're in Hermann you owe it to yourself to stop
