Orthodontic appliances can be made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to a corrected position. This is a great time to wear braces! I absolutely recommend Dr Yao orthodontics to all parents, specially to the ones with kids who are little scared of the process. Dr. Yao is extremely patient with all kids and specifically with ones with butterflies in their stomach during each visit. His office is a happy place, relaxing and joyful. Everyone has a big smile visible even under masks. They are all very professional, and kind. We started with another Orthodontics in 2019 and after 2 years we gladly switched to Dr. Yao's office and right away could see the difference. My daughter is not scared anymore and she got her confidence back

Stay away from this place. Highly unethical and deceptive! They don’t give you the estimated price of the treatment as all other orthodontists I’ve been to before making and charging you for the scans first ($513). I was told my case is not complicated and even if I don’t like the treatment plan or price afterwards, I can always get the scans and proceed with the treatment elsewhere. I reluctantly signed up for that, taking into account the fact that my case is not complicated and that my general dentist was the one who referred me to that place and spoke highly of them. I am a male adult who like many had braces back in the day and since, lost track of the upkeep practice. A bottom tooth was severely out of alignment and top teeth narrowing with overbite. Dr. Yao is a good orthodontist. We were referred to him by Dr. Pang, who is down the hall from him and is my daughter's pediatric dentist. I think during this pandemic everyone is stressed and really wants to make sure that both the patient and the staff are healthy snd safe. I am absolutely happy to improve my teeth with Doctor Yao and his team! Just recently I found my old pic with my smile on it... I wish I have done my Invisalign earlier! I liked that Doctor Yao offered me several options, did not push me to get expensive one ( with braces and removing some of my teeth), so I choose Invisalign. Dr. William Yao is an amazing orthodontist. My sister and I both got our braces done from him and it was a great experience. We first were referred to Dr. Nettleman, but after his retirement, Dr. Yao took over and we were quite impressed! His care and service is amazing. I've heard many stories of patients leaving orthodontists unsatisfied because they only treated for the amount of time that they estimated and no more than that. We have had a very good experience from the get-go. The doctor is wonderful, on time, patient, thorough and very professional. Aside from the good experience with the doctor himself, what we really enjoy is the good customer service from the front desk team. Whether it is Elizabeth or the receptionist. Elizabeth is the rudest person I have ever met. She answers the phone with an attitude, yells and cusses at clients on the phone, and I always hear her scolding the receptionist. She's always barking at her in a belittling way. Of course, however, she never does it in front of the doctor. Some (not all) of the assistants are rude to each other as well. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Dr. Yao and his team are truly gems. As an adult contemplating orthodontic care, I went into the process feeling like a fish out of water. I didn't have braces growing up, so I didn't know what to expect when I took my 11 year old to see Dr. Yao for her first consultation. Dr. Yao came highly recommended by my general dentist and I am so glad I went to see him!
Right off the bat, I was very impressed with the warm and inviting waiting room with the comfy sofas and coloring books for adults and kids. My daughter started coloring right away which calmed her. I perused their coffee selection and enjoyed a cup while waiting. But we didn't have to wait long, Dr. Yao saw us within 5 mins of checking in.

Dr. Yao and staff are the best! If you or your children need braces, I cannot recommend Dr. Yao highly enough. We recently moved from Maryland to California and have four daughters (all of whom need braces!!). Dr. Yao was recommended to us by our new dentist (Dr. Aaron Santos), and we are grateful for the referral! I am a 28 year old and I didn't want to come in to talk about braces. The whole idea seemed so embarrassing. I had a consultation with Dr.Yao and he told me about invaslign and explained the process. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. I became his patient and everything was super smooth and his staff is always really helpful and just a pleasant to be around.
