We are open for worship with Holy Communion! Join us at 8:30 or 11:00 on Sunday mornings. We ask that people who have not been vaccinated wear masks, and that all people wear masks during singing. Our Sunday morning worship services are live-streamed at 8:30 on our YouTube channel. The recording of these services is available later that morning for your viewing.

Links to our worship service videos, weekly Bulletins, and sermon texts can be found on our Services page. We are young and old and middle-aged. We are families with babies, retirees, students and faculty and staff at the College of William and Mary, couples and singles. We are school teachers and health care workers.
Services
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. God comes to us, holds us, and won't let go-ever.
We are created to praise God-so worship is our central and fundamental practice as a congregation. When we worship, the Spirit is gathering us together as a church. We enter into God's time. Through the Word and Sacrament of worship, God gives us nourishment for the journey. We invite you to join us!
Following the guidelines of the CDC and our Virginia Synod, St. Stephen's building is closed. Sunday worship services are posted on our YouTube channel. Links to our worship service videos, weekly Bulletins, and sermon texts can be found on our Services page. When we eventually return to in person worship our services are typically at 8:30 and 11:00am.
Parish Nurse Diana Tiller-Dichtel leads our Health Ministry at St. Stephen, which advocates for the physical, emotional and spiritual healing of the congregation. Among other services, Diana offers blood pressure screenings every third Sunday of the month between the services, in the Health Ministry office.
As a congregation of Jesus followers, we are all instructed to help others. Those who work in the Social Ministry of our congregation research and raise issues of need and social justice in our local community, state, nation and around the world, and then let us know how we can all contribute. St Stephen members were working to support the Motel Ministry by preparing meals for homeless shelters at local churches.

I've been a member of St. Stephens for about 6 years - and decided it was time to replace the short review I wrote here years ago. I know church preferences are a lot like comfort food in many ways: extremely subjective and personal. I rarely give 5 stars ratings and hope this review conveys enough objective information for you to gain a sense of the community.
St. Stephen ELCA is located right across from William & Mary on Jamestown Road - in fact, feel free to park in the W&M lot on Sunday Morning. The proximity to the school certainly lends its flavor to this community. You will find college
