Drawing on six years of teaching kids ages pre-K through 5th grade in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as certified training in Kids Yoga, Brooke's Creative Dance classes for kids are a safe, fun space for children to play and express their natural creativity through movement. In this class for kids ages 3-5, parents or caretakers are asked to stay and participate, providing support and a unique embodied bonding experience with the children.
Brooke Gessay is a dance artist, yoga teacher, and ordained zen monk. She is a lover of adventure, especially in the territories of creative process, collaborative performance, and meditation. She works with kids and adults in the Boulder community in elementary schools, with The Wellness Initiative, and on faculty at Naropa University and The Integral Center.
I attended Brooke's creative movement class with my 5 year old son and 3 year old daughter this winter. Brooke's uplifted energy and embodied presence immediately comforted and deeply engaged my children. She connects with each child and cultivates a space of fun, creative expression, and flow that is contained and well regulated.
I offer both private yoga and teach yoga as an adjunct professor at Naropa University in Boulder, CO. Based in the Viniyoga lineage, and influenced by my practice of Vinyasa Yoga, Contemporary Dance and Zen Buddhism, my teaching promotes and engages self-reflection and a balance between effort and surrender.
