Services
Dr. James A. Finkel graduated from the Medical University of SC in Charleston in 1994. After this, he completed a post graduate residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry. After moving to Columbia, SC, in the summer of 1995, he was on staff in a group practice in the Northeast. After three years with the group practice, Dr. Finkel decided to open his own practice in beautiful Blythewood, South Carolina.
Your dental history speaks to your overall health and wellness. At Blythewood Dentistry, we work hard to put our patients at ease while they are here for a check-up or other service. During your visit, we are also sure to address all of your oral health and wellness needs. From dental crowns and implants to dental veneers and full dentures, we do anything necessary to keep your teeth in good shape.
A crown is generally used to cover a damaged tooth, while veneers are thin pieces of porcelain that work to recreate the natural look of teeth. Dental crowns are placed on top of the tooth completely to improve the appearance and shape. They're also used to be placed on top of dental implants for missing teeth and gaps.
Blythewood Dentistry specializes in cosmetic dentistry because we believe that all of our patients deserve to feel confident in their smiles. If you often find yourself hiding your smile in pictures, when you're out with friends, etc.-we want to help you! Our practice believes that every patient of ours deserves to have a bright, white, and straight smile.
Sedation dentistry uses medication to help patients relax during dental procedures. For the most part, patients are awake who are undergoing sedation dentistry. Those who are using general anesthesia are completely unconscious. Sedation dentistry covers everything from a simple tooth cleaning to an invasive procedure.

I have a very low tolerance for pain. Dr. Hughes and his lead dental assistant Miss Morgan are AMAZING! They were extremely comforting and informative about everything. I highly recommend this office and especially Dr. Hughes!

My wife had a urgent dental problem and they made room in their schedul for her. They explained what they were doing each step of the way. They explained what choices we had and which one they recommended. They were friendly, kind and considerate. This was a holiday time and the told me how to reach them if we needed something while the office was closed.
