From a military family, Dr. Melina Bjornson spent most of her childhood in Keller, Texas. She received her undergraduate degree from University of North Texas and her Doctor of Dental Surgery from University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. Before completing her doctorate degree, she lived in the Vail Valley where she grew to love this community deeply.

I had a great experience at Avon Dental! The receptionists greeted me with a smile and made me feel at home. My hygienist was knowledgeable, gentle, and made my experience as a new patient easy and enjoyable. The dentist was also very kind and is great at what she does…and, as I’m also a dentist visiting from Maryland for the year, my standards are pretty high. I had a great experience (and so did my 2 yr old daughter earlier this week!)

Be Cautious. My previous dentist sold his book of clients to them we were sad to leave him but also trusted his decision. We have been to a few cleanings and everyone has been very nice, facility and equipment is modern. My concern is the upselling and fear tactics. I have been accustom to a honest / conservative approach. Last week I went in for a cleaning and left with an estimate for 2 crowns. Not shocking as we have been monitoring my old fillings for years. Issue is the lack of concern for the financial strain or insurance coverage. Focused more on scaring me to increase their bill and close

Excellent dentistry with a very compassionate touch. Front office guides you through the process. Julie, her staff and doctors are great. Everything is brand new and very clean.. And then there is the convenient location - north of Exit 167 on I-70 in Avon, CO with a beautiful view of Beaver Creek and the Sawatch Mountains, in the Hospital next to Northside Kitchen. This is excellent general dentistry!

I’ve been going here for almost 3 years and have always been happy. This past visit though, the dental hygienist used the ultrasonic tarter removal tool on me which I have had no issues with in the past. I have fixed wire retainers so I’m always happy to get the tarter off. This particular hygienist used the tool way too close to my gums. Like actually rubbing the tool along my guns. There were a couple of times I cringed because she was too close to an area where my gums are receding a bit. She didn’t even seem to notice. They suggested some work be done on my teeth, and I have never had

Amazing experience... I had terrible tooth ache while vacationing in Beaver Creek. My hotel referenced Avon Dental, so made the call. Extremely accommodating, the office was modern and clean and the team there couldn't have been more helpful and professional. Would recommend this regardless of this being a one-off visit or your go-to dental practitioner.

This place is the Best! I forgot I was at a dental office! The staff is exceptional, professional, and friendly! Each person from start to finish was extremely knowledgeable and genuinely Cared about my concerns and treatment. Showed up to my 10 o'clock appt. to find out they cancelled it claiming I never "confirmed" yet I called the day before to check on any covid info I may need before coming in.. the doctor who was supposed to do my cleaning also no showed and there were no other doctors available. It is what it is but this was just the final straw here. Grabbed my records and got out of their practice altogether.

I went in on April 30th with a broken crown, it is now over a month later and I am dealing with the damage Dr. Heimerdinger did to my mouth. When he had me open my jaw for the novocaine, he over extended my jaw, and when the needle was placed in my mouth he froze all of the muscles in my jaw and caused damage to the disk, the new specialist in seeing informed me of this. I can't open my mouth more than 40%, I still need a root canal, which I am unable to get because my mouth is unable to open.

The people who work here are very nice! However I cannot recommend this place. I had a tooth that was chipped and was told that the only option was to pull it and do an implant. The dentist said he was very conservative and this was the only option. Since the tooth was a side tooth in my smile I wanted to make sure so I went to someone else for a second opinion. This dentist said without any further imaging or anything that he 100 percent sure he could save my tooth. He almost was laughing saying it was a "no brainer" to save the tooth.

I have lived in the valley for over 20 years. This is by far the best dental office that I have gone to since I've lived here. Retro dental is awesome!! I had a long time in between dentist visits due to loss of coverage. They were able to get me back to where I needed to be and feeling great. They were able to work with me and my insurance. It was the best deal in town. And they made sure I wasn't in any pain. Looking forward to having them as my dentists for years to come
