Found out on Thursday night that I was going over to Amherst on the Saturday, so I called up here to check to see if I might make a last minute reservation for the next day (not much of a chance but had to try). I left a message and while waiting for a call back I found another salon with a last minute opening which I jumped on (December is super busy). This salon was so professional that even though they hadn't an open slot over the next three weeks, someone still called up to let me know. That was classy. I liked my haircut that I did get from another nearby salon, but I commend how considerate

Hands down the best! i drive 2.5 hours to get my hair done here! i will never trust another salon!! the whole staff is so friendly & knowledgeable! my hair was basically falling out before they fixed me and told me what products to use at home that would work best to rebuild the health of my hair! they are also always super clean and do so much to keep their staff & clients safe during this crazy pandemic. the salon and staff are all so stylish and up to date on the latest and greatest stuff. thank you red door, you’re the best!!

Came in a few months ago for a hair cut! Was very nice and quick, I'd recommend! I also used the 10% discount for students!

First time back since last year and Liana completely transformed my dead, straw-like hair! I'm like a bird and can't stop looking in the mirror at it now. My hair feels incredibly healthy now too, without sacrificing too much length.

Don’t expect to see me at any other salon! I was HIGHLY recommended to the Red Door Salon and have been going there to see McKenzie ever since. I’m not her only client that drives over an hour (almost 2 for me) to get there and it’s always more than worth it because of her attention to detail and how she consistently goes above and beyond to make my hair look amazing! I can personally speak to her talent doing blondes and always trust her to get me to the perfect tone! The salon owner has kept the salon very clean, wears her mask correctly, and gives an amazing haircut at a really good price. She was lovely to talk to as well. I will certainly be going back.

Couldn’t be happier with my experience at Red Door Salon. Kirsten gave me a post quarantine cut and listened to exactly what I wanted. I was nervous going to a salon and feeling safe during the pandemic, but I’m so glad I chose her salon. Kirsten has excellent safety measures in place to keep staff and clients safe. She has well educated herself on COVID measures. Also love that you can book via text. My hair looks and feels great! Will definitely be back for my next cut and recommending this place to anyone who asks!!

I stopped into Red Door Salon for a blowout prior to my rehearsal dinner for my wedding in Amherst. They did a wonderful job of fitting me in for my appointment and making me feel comfortable & safe. I got SO many compliments that evening on how great my hair looked. She used great products, was very professional and really took the time to understand what I was looking for that evening. I would definitely go back to Red Door for any styling needs and recommend to anyone in the area who needs a hairstylist for their wedding!

Amanda saved my hair! I'm new to the area and needed a good stylist to fix my grown out blond locks. Amanda listened and discussed my ideas. She totally understood what I wanted and gave me a cut and color beyond my expectations. I found my stylist and am so excited and relieved to be in such good hands.

I went to the Red Door Salon for the first time today. I made the appointment and received text message confirmation. The confirmation was clear and allowed for easy integration into my online calendar. The parking is very convenient and the salon is beautiful. It is clean and bright. I had a haircut with the owner Kirsten and she was fantastic. She was punctual, had great interpersonal skills and did a fantastic job cutting my hair. Payment was simple with ApplePay and making my next appointment was easy.

Every appointment is absolutely perfect! I have tried different stylists and they all are attentive to my requests. Everyone is incredibly sweet and I haven't gotten a haircut that I didn't like! There's also a great student discount with ID!

I've never been as loyal to a hair salon until I found Tia at Red Door! She perfects my blonde locks and makes sitting in a cape for 2-3 hours fun.

I hate to write not great reviews but I need to on this one. I brought in an image of what I wanted my hair to look like and it is not really what I got. The stylist genuinely didn't really listen to what I wanted. After more inspection I realized that a lot of the cut is uneven and I just am overall unhappy with my experience here. The hair cut took less than 30 minutes and I am overall not very satisfied.

Kirsten is simply great! I've had my hair styled, colored and highlighted several times by her, and each time it gets better! She's got the layered thing down and now that I'm wanting to grow my hair a bit longer, it's looking better than ever with her good eye!! Red Door Salon is a wonderful place to go ~ everyone is kind, friendly and the coffee selection rocks!

Best highlights and hair cut, I make sure to book my appointment for every time I am back in town. Everyone is so nice and the service is amazing. Would highly recommend for anyone needing cut or color in Amherst or Western MA even, the prices are also very reasonable!

I went in for an ombré balayage, my picture was dark on top, going to red and then to blonde. I also wanted a cut- mostly clean up and bang trim. I have naturally light brown hair and it was just above my collar- pretty short. It took 3 hours and the top of my hair did not get dyed dark brown. The red was barely there. She cut the back of my hair a tiny bit, but otherwise I didn't really get a cut at all. It was $160. I texted back the next day to ask why I hadn't received a cut and she said she had cut the back, but there wasn't much she could do as it was already pretty layered

First off, this salon is in such an awesome location!! Second... this is my 3rd time here and all of the stylists have made me feel super welcome each time. I have seen McKenzie each time and she always gives me her opinion on what I want done and is 100% honest with me. Prices are great in comparison to what a lot of other salons charge. If you are anywhere within the pioneer valley you should check out Red Door Salon!!

The staff are pretty dismissive and the haircut was overpriced for the results I got.

First of all, any place that lets me make an appointment without requiring I speak to a human on the phone is okay by me. I love the option to text for an appointment and I love that they were able to get me a same day appointment. The salon itself is sooo cute, a sweet little house with great big windows to look out while you're in the chair. But most importantly, Tia hooked me up with the cutest cut I've gotten in a long time! I went to a wedding shortly after and looked dapper as heck. It's exactly what I wanted, but better than I imagined. Thanks so much!

Just went today to get my hair done and couldn't wait to share how awesome this salon is!! I'm new to Amherst, so finding a new salon and stylist was a tad nerve-wracking to me but McKenzie was AMAZING!!! She brought my hair completely back to life! She is super talented and super sweet!! The color, the cut and the style, I LOVE IT! Everyone at the salon were very professional and nice! I am beyond thrilled with the outcome of my hair! Do yourself a favor and book an appointment now!

I followed Razi to this new salon and was thrilled with the result! My roots were touched up with a perfect blending color, then properly blow dried and styled without me being charged a ridiculous add-on price. For someone with very long, thick hair this is a major point for me, especially in the winter months. At Red Door, it's all part of the service. The second floor salon has a wonderful view out over Amherst Common and is a private and comfortable space to chill out. I called on a Sunday - I was not a client yet. I explained my hair coloring disaster from another salon - and I hoped for the best that they would take me in. Kiersten kept the salon open just to help me.
She is hands down the most kind , professional , personable , and talented stylist. I went in there as a stranger and she treated me as if I have been a longstanding client. She will have me as a client now. I highly recommend Red Door Salon.

Brand new salon, destined to be the best around. Ultra-talented McKenzie and her dedicated and professional crew have restored and updated a historical and convenient space, close to parking and the rest of downtown. The level of professionalism and attention to detail is far beyond what you would usually get in Boston or NYC, not to mention sleepy amherst, even for guys. Nobody else has been able to figure out how to cut my hair so it looks good, but McKenzie did. I suggest you book there before they get discovered and you have to wait weeks to get in!

This salon just opened in downtown Amherst and I was happy to follow assistant manager McKenzie to her new place! It's updated and comfortable. Very clean! They offer hair styling and waxing. Walk ins are welcome. Parking is on the street or paid lots.very conveniently located.
