Definitely love the remodeling
It looks and feels comfortable and upscale
The food is ok, even delicious sometimes, and sometimes just ok
That's the issue for me
It definitely seems overpriced (they recently increased their already steep pricing)
I usually just go here for celebratory type meals, mostly Birthdays for the daughter(it's her favorite place)

High class, expensive Steakhouse and sushi kosher restaurant. Three of us all had steaks and they were wonderful. Thick, juicy, tender. However the service left an awful lot to be desired, especially when you're paying $70 to $110 for a main course. Perhaps it's because of a shortage of workers due to covid but it was really poor.
The busboy who brought our dinners didn't know which one was which. After he left we noticed we didn't get any steak knives and had to ask for them a few minutes later when we were finally able to flag someone. Then we noticed that they didn't bring anything for the

Due to unforseen circumstances we could not complete our last day of vacation ritual of "linner" at L Woods (restaurant in Lincolnwood & direct competition to this Bistro). So, in a hurry, this was our next option. Never been, but decided on it just because they had available seating and it was on the path towards ORD.
For the money spent, cannot believe the low quality. The waiter was alright. The food was not worth the costs/ spend. I would have rather spent that money at L Woods, Mantra, any seafood boiler restaurant, etc I think you get the picture. If I'm going to spend

I always love coming to shallots but this most recent meal was extraordinarily special and that’s all thanks to the warm and wonderful service that Jimmy gave to us. What a wonderful guy! Really made my birthday feel special and was spot on with his recommendations, too! Coming to shallots is worth it for the food, but a meal becomes memorable when the service is exemplary. Thanks again, Jimmy!

Our sever was very nice. However, the food was terrible. Our food was overcooked, dry and salty. If I didn't have a glass of water, I might have choked on the hockey puck of food they served. The place is Kosher, I get that the choices may be a tad limited if that's what you are looking for; but for the price range (appetizers averaged $20+, entrees averaged $50s++, with a burger at $25). Server was nice, but did not ask why we only took a couple of bites of our entree and did not want the rest to go, he seemed uncomfortable and didn't want to deal with it. By the way, they automatically add 20

Very poor service & waited 2 hours for our dinner. Service was so slow go somewhere else. Not enough staff for service or kitchen to make the food. Even ran out of bread & dips while we were waiting..... Unbelievable for such an expensive & gourmet place !!!
Even though we were there for a planned & special event... You would think they would plan, order provisions & staff accordingly. Obviously they don't.

So sad. The menu sounded delicious, but the food was very disappointing. Other reviewers call this a fine dining establishment, I suppose because of the prices. But there is nothing fine happening here. The rolls were meh. I asked for butter and was told they only have margarine and then they brought an orange mayonnaise like substance and a brown sauce. We were never able to determine what these dips were. They were not margarine.
People, please stop referring to this restaurant as fine dining.
I ordered the California roll, which was a little heavy on the rice but OK overall. My son and I had

The Food at Shallots is consistently very good. Steak was made to perfection- We got the STEAK BORDELAISE (cheapest one on the menu but still overpriced) and the 7oz Chef's Special which was outstanding. Shallot's continues to be a little too expensive - even tho it is Kosher and therefore without much competition; but for special occasions is worthwhile.
CONS: 1. Sushi Chef that made the most INCREDIBLE sushi is no longer there and what they served was very poor substitute, so would avoid it.
2. For such an elegant place, why do they have to nickel and dime you:

I arrived to meet some new friends for valentines day. The ambiance was so lovely, dim lights and the seating was very appropriate with the covid guidelines. Also this is a kosher restaurant which was super cool. We immediately were seated and asked for our drink orders.
I ordered the lemon drop super delicious. Our waiter was also very patient with us because we were in such deep conversation and he allowed us to talk and was patient when we took a little longer to decide on our orders. We all ordered steaks, some came with asparagus, shallots, and mashed potatoes. A man came around and gave

Sorry it's been 2 years since I've updated my review, I've been here many times since as its one of my favorite places to dine. This time we were tempted by the special Channukah menu. I must say, though I'm still giving it 5 stars, in the future I'll stick with the regular menu. We started with the turkey soup which we agreed was super delicious, things from there went down hill but then, thankfully uphill. We then tried the trio of latkes: butternut squash, potato, and zucchini- meh. Then the brisket latke tacos which were quite tasty but greasy and messy and I'd

Shallots was an incredible experience. The ambiance was comfortably formal and totally enhanced to the dining experience. The food was even better. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked and delectable. The brisket flatbreads were delicious, and a very generous portion size. The churro dessert was delectable, and came with a delicious sauce and ice cream. Mario, our waiter, was so kind and friendly. Biba, our server, ensured to give us all the options and was so friendly as well.
All in all, this was a delicious and wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it!

Wow. What an experience! 1st off, I'll begin by saying that I'm a New Yorker and have been to almost all of New York's (kosher) steakhouses... That being said, let's just say that this place outshines almost every NY joint except for maybe Reserve Cut which is probably unanimously the holy grail for kosher beef. The aesthetic at Shallots is elegant and chic, yet so cozy and laidback. It was truly refreshing coming from NYC where steakhouses are usually jammed and noisy etc...At Shallots, it's mostly full but there's this calm and chill vibe about the whole place. Now for the real good stuff: The

I was in Chicago for a conference and the organizers ordered a Kosher lunch from Shallots Bistro. They ordered the menu item "The Bomb" it was a pretzel bun filled with all sorts of deli meats and sauces. It was quite delicious, which is good because they ordered it 4 times that week!
One of the evenings my wife and I went out to Shallots and we had a wonderful time, the steaks were expertly prepared and drinks were refreshing and the dessert quite interesting.
Great place for a special night out.
