My partner and I rented an apartment from Farnam (Zak) in spring 2021. Because we were on the other side of the country, we were not able to view the apartment in person before signing the lease (video tour). However, in a video tour and in a subsequent email exchange with Farnam, we explicitly asked whether there were any mold issues with the apartment and were assured that there were not.

I experienced nothing but friendliness and kindness with Farnam workers, but I had no idea that I was renting an apartment under OCEAN MANAGEMENT and they were finding residents through Farnam. If you're looking to rent through Farnam Realty, be sure that Ocean Management is NOT involved. Go on Ocean management's google reviews page as it speaks for itself. Just RUN.

One of their trucks (FGG- their landscaping arm) rear ended me today because i took too long at a light for him. Then he sped off while i pulled over to look at the damage. You'd think that someone in a company truck would avoid pulling stunts like that when there's contact information printed on the side. Whatever.

I have worked with Toby for about a year trying to get an apartment. Toby has always remained professional and a stand up gentleman. I do not blame him for this review. Honestly, he's too good for Farnam. Everytime I had interest in an apsrtment they gave me obstacles to overcome in order to get approved. At first it was credit. Ok, granted. Fixed my credit. 2nd time, I was supposedly beat by someone with a higher credit score when my app was in first and I literally just needed to sign lease. Okay so 3rd times the charm. I'm going to say it's the worst realty company to deal with. I have emailed and called multiple times and there mailboxes are always full and I never receive a call back. Tells my daughter she can sign a lease and the house gets rented. Then sets an appointment up to view another house and they cancel and say she never told them the number. Go figure this house got rented too. Never ever!!

We spent a day looking at a few different apartments in New Haven proper with Alyson. We got approved for our 2nd favorite listing. Alyson was great. She was helpful, knowledgeable and did everything in her power to make sure we were approved even though we dont have the best credit. Plus they allow big dogs which is always a plus.

I am renting a two-bedroom apartment from Farnam and my experience has been great. Farnam have a very convenient online property management system, which allows tenants to sign the lease, pay their rent or report problems all of this with just a few clicks. Repairs happen the same day and the handyman always kindly informs through text messages before going to the apartment and after completion of the work. Before the end of my lease, I emailed Farnam requesting an extension of my stay and again they responded very fast, trying their best to accommodate my request. The place is quiet and very well

STAY AWAY FROM FARNAM RENTAL APARTMENTS. These guys are scam artists. They take advantage of students that don't have renting experience by charging high rents and then keeping a big chunk of the security deposit for bogus reasons. When I moved out I asked for proof/pictures of the items they were "charging me for" but the woman said they guy that inspected the place is a "recent immigrant" and could not speak english very well so they could not provide proof of the items - NO JOKE (they said the oven was not cleaned, the carpet had some dust, scuffs on the walls, etc

Like Ling C. noted below, I also had issues with Farnam (specifically James). I was also docked $100 for a false "stove and window cleaning" fee which is completely absurd. Similar to Ling he tried to enter my apartment without sufficient notice of 24 hrs when he was showing it to new tenants. He seems pretty incompetent at his job, so I'm unsurprised he is doing this to multiple people. The least I would expect is that he'd be a little more creative but it seems like the $100 fine and annoying last minute text messages are all that he's capable of dreaming up when he

Rude workers. Moldy houses with full of insects and mice and extremely overpriced. They knew my dishwasher was broken, they sold the building to a new owner and didn't even mention it. Not to mention that they kept replacing the ceiling tile (which took 3 months) for a leak instead of fixing the leak.

When I came into town on the turnip truck, Carol and her team made me feel welcome and my needs were respected. She spent almost an entire Saturday with me to make sure I found a great place to live. My apartment is beautiful and affordable. Also, any issues that come up are dealt with immediately.
